I recently found this pic while doing some attic cleaning. It is the only surviving evidence proving my (almost) lifelong association with Guilds. This shows me and my band playing our eighth grade dance in the mid 60's. That's me in the middle playing the blond Slim Jim. (I wish I still had it-I've seen them on EBay for $2700 dollars). Check out all the guys around the stage too afraid to ask the girls to dance, If I didn't feel totally comfortable here, this pic would have stayed in the attic. Anyone else have something like this to share? Safe and happy Fourth to all.

I wish I still had my first half-dozen guitars! :D
That would be one Gibson, two Martins, and three Guilds, in order of appearance.
I'll bet they'd sound really good now!

If wishes were horses.....(you know the rest)

Quiet a fine looking young lad ...

What's the story behind that first one Grot? You'd been wanting one and mom and dad bought her for you? They'd seen some obscure talent and pushed it on you? You saved your newspaper delivery money?

West

... what happened ??

I'm going to date this at 1977-78. That's a happy teenage me on my S60(65?) single humbucker Guild. Check out the killer strap and the coiled cord. My "amp" is me plugged into the cassette deck on "record" and "monitor" through the stereo. Man was I glad those speakers had circuit breakers!

I do not still have the hat, but I do love me a good hat to this day.

The Ampeg, sadly, was not mine.

BTW I'm pretty sure I had no idea what any of the switches on that Hagstrom did. :)

Here I am at the ripe old age of sixteen playing with my then band Mazarin with the Fender P-Bass that I still own. About half an hour after this picture was taken Johnny and Edgar Winter showed up. The rest of the boys were jamming with them for a time, and Edgar was playing MY BASS! I swore I'd never change the strings again, but of course I did. Don't you just love the goatee?

You can also see the Sunn 200s that I never should have sold behind me. Now I'm looking for another one, and they're as rare as hen's teeth these days (and expensive!)

A goatee at sixteen?! I'm impressed. I could barely dream about facial hair at sixteen.

Yeah. I was 6'3" and had a goatee at fifteen. All my friends loved it because I could go buy the beer! :D

I grew up in Port Washington NY, and at the time Johnny and Edgar lived (most of the time) in Sands Point, the "rich" part of town. This picture was taken at the Port Promenade as it was called then. Really just a big block party. The Rose Shop (a fabric store that's still there) hired us to play out front of their store. I think I cleared something like ten bucks that day.

Great pictures! We were all good looking and above average, weren't we?

Don't have an old picture playing a Guild. Here's something from the 80s... wish I'd hung on to that tele.

Dave, that pic brings back serious memories of '73 Tele Deluxe I used to own. I sold it to some kid for $200 and he turned around and traded it for a pair of skis. I kick myself every day. Anyway, everyone's pix are great. Come on people - I know more of you want to unveil your past. Keep them coming.
