Here is a first attempt at pics of my git - not sure if this will work or not. Here goes...

And another ....

And one with my head inside ... proof positive it came from Westerly.

It was worth the wait!

Love the color of the top ! - it looks to be aging gracefully to say the least. 8)

Na ah, this is very enjoyable..

Think that's funny? The other day I took some photos to post here. Sent them off to a site, it was all good. Today I went to download them here, something is all jacked up (my doing no doubt) and I can't get into my account. So I thought I'd just set up a Photobucket acct. and try again. Now I can't find the pictures on my computer.

Good lookin' guitar Tunes.

That's a nice looking Guild you have there, Tunes.

Is that horizontal and vertical grain what's called "silking"?

Dave - I did a little bit of investigation, and indeed the presence of both vertical and horizontal grain is "silking". One of the small beauties of spruce tops (although it does exist in many other woods as well).

Tunes,

That's what I had thought, but was not sure. I'd read it was a sign of a nicely quartersawn spruce top, as your Guild surely has. My D-35's top looks a lot like that.

Tunes,

Don't you just love the way those Guilds pose. Super models they are! And thanks for posting photos of what could well be a younger brother to my D-6, judging by the serial #. :D

Joe

Joe,

According to the "official" Guild site, the KL series only goes up to 0001210. In 1994, the D6 appears to change to an AD serial prefix. My KL is obviously beyond 1210, and it seems your's is even a higher serial. I am wondering how high? It would interesting to try and find out what the true last serial was for the KL series. D6 - "not a lot of bling, but they sure can sing".

Dave,

You may have (or not) noticed that I also have a Martin D-35. IMHO one of the Top 10 Martins built.

Tunes,
FWIW, my D-6 serial is actually a bit lower at KL000687. Certainly not a big deal but more of a curiosity. :D
