I posted recently how much I love listening to Eva Cassidy CD's. I've gone on a buying spree and likely have bought every CD she's made (I think)

Now, I'm listening a lot to Norah Jones and Diana Krall. I love their material as well. There's just something sweet and comforting about a nice female voice.

Love all of these. Also check out Stacey Kent, her husband does some nice acoustic guitar work.

Been listening to Carolyn Hester. I believe she was a Guild endorsee at one point as well!

I freaking LOVE Norah Jones. I use her stuff to test my headphones and headphone amps.

Kate Bush, Pat Benatar, Karen Carpenter, Julie London. That covers a lot of "old school" ground. :)

Also love Rachel Price & Norah Jones.

Veer alert . . . possibly the funniest thing that I've ever heard Jimmy Fallon say (a long time ago):

"Norah Jones celebrated her 25th birthday today - her fans turned 50".

one night i was at a show, and Norah Jones was in the audience, standing right next to me. The band started playing a song that sounded eerily familiar. I turned around and said "this is one of your songs, right?" and she smiled and said "it's not my song but I sing it with the Little Willies." I said "ahh that's it!" and turned my attention back to the stage. it was this cool moment that we shared. Then, I could never have expected what was about to happen next. Norah started singing the lyrics, along with the band...quietly, into my ear. my head almost exploded as I tried not to smile, and/or cry at the same time. the song was "Pennies on the Floor." she "sang me" the entire song. a night I will never forget!

In a completely unrelated encounter, I discovered the band Lake Street Dive when I literally walked into a bar to take a piss. and they were on fire!! that was about 10 years ago. u just never know!

Wow, you really kept your cool. I would have proposed to her within two minutes. 😊

One of my fav singers is Victoria Legrand of the duo Beach House. Not many female pop/r&r vocalists working in the contralto range. Here's Lazuli from their fourth album, Bloom…it's well representative of what Beach House typically sounds like, and the video is suitably weird too. ☺️ (The bartender in the video is Victoria, BTW.)
