As the title reads, this is a feeler for body shape/type of guitar for a potential LTG custom. There is no guarantee this will happen, but I am hoping to see how many would be interested. Please list as many shapes and sizes that you would seriously consider purchasing. Even if you are not considering the purchase of a custom, please reply and let us know what you would choose (but please abstain from voting).

There is no timeline for a custom build, nor is there anything official with Guild. But there could be if there is enough interest.

EDIT: I think it would be safe to say that any LTG custom would run between $2-3K.

*Note: Due to no more than 8 options allowed, I have combined a couple of similar body shapes/styles. If you have interest in one (e.g. F40/F47) please specify which one you are interested in.

I voted for 6-string jumbo, F40/F47, F30, and F20. I would not be able to consider one until next year due to my recent purchase of a custom Martin.

I hope this will work out for you and the others that may be interested.
The only guitar that I would vote for is way out of my reach.
The F-612.
Best of luck in your endeauvour.
I hope it works out.

Not sure if I should vote as can't be 100% certain whether I would do this (of the 3 Guilds I've bought I've only had 1 in my hands at this time, so...). Certainly does have some appeal.

Just confused with the F40 body shape - the pics on the westerly guitar site & on the current Guild site indicate the shapes are different. The current F40 seems to have a top bout which is not as wide & the lower bout seems more squared off. The one in the Westerly Guild Guitars site seems like a slightly smaller Jumbo shape a la the F212 & GV52. I really like that shape - looks good & seems really comfortable to play - a slighly more blinged up version would be very appealing indeed.

Would also be very interested in the F612 - I'm assuming this would be the mother of all 12 strings & I could get very Oedipal with it.

Zelja,

Guild is notorious for changing body shape/specs while keeping the same model name. Actually, Martin is guilty of this as well as other companies. Yes the F40, F47, and F30 went through a period where they looked more like mini jumbos. The current F40/F47/F30 shapes on the Guild website would be the ones involved with any type of custom guitar. I would like to see Guild come out with a mini jumbo such as the GF-25, but that is something only the future will hold.

I have posted on this subject before; A Guild 612 and F-50R JD model would sell like hotcakes. On the 612 bracing and a few custom appointments would be added. 612's were braced like 512's and since the 18 body has more surface area the bracing was not sufficient to off-set the stress of string tension. I work minutes from a guild distributer and visit the store often. They sold a 512, two D-55's, D-40, f-47 and a couple others. They have been waiting for replacements for over four months; I really have my doubts whether or not fender is really serious about guild succeeding. A cocobolo 612 with closed tuners would be awesome. I would buy one in a second-custom shops are superior to standard models with craftsmanship and materials.

Cheers, thanks for the info.

I do dig the GF series, especially the GF60. It would be great if they could do something like that again, but maybe they are too close to their Standard & Traditional jumbos that they do now.

While my vote was for the F-612, I would love to see the F-112 brought back, especially if it had a short scale.

No argument on the F-612 desirability, but (in the other direction) I would also really like to see the F-312 re-appear. I've never had an opportunity to play one of the originals, but I have heard a number of folks who've played many Guilds say that this model was a stunner. And, I'd like to see it done up pretty fancy, probably very much along the lines of the GSR F-30R with insane bearclaw Sitka and G-shield-plus aesthetics.

Chaz,

It appears that the F312 is similar in size to the F212 except that it has rosewood b/s as opposed to mahogany on the F212. Is that the only difference? When I made this poll, I was mainly interested in body shape and whether people wanted 12 or 6 string. I have changed the poll option to F212/F312.

I am curious, has Guild ever done a shortscale 12-string guitar?

My vote was for the F212 body. If I had my way, it would be a burst GF212BL. No bling necessary. I can dream, can't I?

I try to lead a bling-free life, Ken, so I'm with you there.

Cheers to all,
Joe
I have to agree with you guys there. While I will not reject a blingy guitar, I am not the biggest fan of anything iridescent or reflective. I do like herringbone trim, but a little goes a long way.

Not that I know of.

I wonder if the F30 (a wonderful-sounding, comfy little guitar) could be done as a 12-string. Would add my vote for that, if the poll is edited with this option.

The closest thing that has been done was the F112 which has a lower bout a little less than 15.5 inches. I do not see why this couldn't be done. It seems nobody has interest in a custom 12-string jumbo/12-string dread, so I will replace that selection with an F30 12-string.

I checked F-20 and F-30, but not sure if that's what I'd go for. I'd really love to see a small body 12 fret slot head, that's probably what I would commission as a custom.
