What am I missing here? Can I see a picture of what is all the fuss?

Grab a hold of Scratch's glasses metal and look at the first post in the thread.

Graham,
I did that, still don't see anything. Is there a link to something?

Time for my computer guru to come and take a look at my machine. Every time he does, he tells me to stop buying guitars, and buy a decent computer!

Well, in the time-honored LTG tradition, showing a little 'widening' to capture vision, booze, and software issues too.... wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last... cj

Back OT! Nice Git, cj!
Thanks Steve; pleased with seller; he sort of under-sold it; not just relief that it had arrived in one piece but a better-than-expected condition make it that much more enjoyable. Took a polish, oil on fingerboard, installed the Seymour Duncan, piped it into my Gibson GA4RE oil can unit with can disconnected; unit acts like a tube preamp to add some tube delight to the signal and then to the GA18 - pretty good; not gonna play Shea Stadium with the rig but preamp enlarges bottom and puts some air in the highs...

It will also supply some motivation to get the TBass off the bench; anticipating a big, strong, clean signal. The TBass less inclined to brown out on overload than the Gibbie. Thanks again. cj

Looks like a fine score, Cap'n. An F-48's on my want list as well.
Thanks John; not very many made but rareness not really a factor in cost. The mint copies over on the 'Valencia' thread push 20 barrels of oil while the so-so copies like mine, in the 10 - 12 barrel range and, no, I don't know what that is in camels......thanks again. John

Hi Jahn; I tried fishing in the vintage F30 pond - hooked an old tractor tire  . Do-over fetched this one; biggish voice by 'hog standards; I also thought those maple-body/hog-neck copies were just beautiful too. Having owned a maple F412: I have an impression of what maple does; was interested in hearing what up-scale 'hog could do.

Hi Dan; got lucky, earlier empty-netter into my own goal disallowed because of gross ineptitude on my part. This time, have a prime piece of mahogany Guild; does what G 'hog does and does it well; brilliant sparkling highs especially.

Thanks again; have a nice holiday!

Hey Cap....I know the subject of string brands has been debated vigorously in various threads and I am definitely going to try out the JP's in the future based on all the glowing reccomendations (I have always used D'Addarios), but I recently have been intrigued by the "DR Rare" brand of phospor bronze acoustic strings for the hogs. When I received my D-25 a few months back, the seller included a note with a phone number to call him to let him know the git arrived safe & sound. I wasnt going to call, was just going to do the feedback thing, but when I played her, I had to call to find out what kind of strings were on her. I knew they weren't D'Addarios. He told me he always used these DR Rare PB strings. They sound awesome. Crisp, clean strong voice, excellent sustain. Not better than D'Addarios but different, in a good way. So I found some on the bay and put em on the M20 all hog and the sound is sweet! I can't say I'll always use them, I'm pretty fond of my D'Addarios, but it might be worth the experiment on your new acquisition.

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

Hi Dan; thanks for the string tip; will give 'em a try. Make of current string set unknown but lightish by Martin PB 80/20 standards, my what-to-buy-when-too-lazy-to-experiment choice in strings; it's a deep rut ... thanks for the pointer. cj
