Seller of the F30SB refunded; bought this 1973 F48 'Navarre'; ser 817XX. Spruce over mahogany; 17" X 4.75" X 21" body; "...identical in size and shape to the F-50, but with the woods and ornamentation of the F-47." page 126, The Guild Guitar Book, Hans Moust RW fingerboard and bridge, factory-fitted w/ Barcus Berry Hot Dots - same as a well-known west coast musician featured Here, Grover Rotos in catalog; this one has original-looking Schallers.

F212 and F48:

Except for the uh-oh on the back (in the finish, not the grain), in good cosmetic condition. The neck is straight and the joint tight. The neck is a soft-C shape in contrast to the F212's somewhat flattish neck. Does not have the volume or brightness of maple, nor does it have the thick, rich tone of RW; it does what mahogany does; highly colored, warm mids and clear, sparkling highs. Haven't tried the Hot Dots yet, adaptor required but do have a Seymour Duncan SA-1 Acoustic Tube sound-hole pick-'em-up that will do just fine. Bought off GBase from Dan Yablonka; reliable, ethical, great pack, and quick ship. cj

Nice !!! Looks big. 8)
Thanks Jeff; I'm just under 6' and have sort of longish arms; it isn't a problem for me to handle. If you're comfortable with your SF, you wouldn't notice the extra 1/2" top and bottom. cj

Thanks Woodie; yes, just about the same dims as the 212XL; with very pleasing tone but without the neck weight. Except for the jangly thing, voiced very much like the 112/212s. cj

congrats john :) looks as if it suits much better to the F212 :)
Thank you Michael; it sounds like an F212 w/ 6 strings which is what I was after; higher-grade, older mahogany guitar. The F212 is a terrific guitar; it had good 'bones' when I got it and it's a first- class 'player' now from the period needing only an upgraded pickup. cj

Yes; in fact it rings; frankly better than hoped for ... more volume than the F212 but, in either case, nothing that 15 watts of 6V6s can't overcome...here,...I'm turning it up now.... cj

Grab a hold of Scratch's glasses metal and look at the first post in the thread.

Graham,
I did that, still don't see anything. Is there a link to something?

Hi Metalman; not sure what's going on; there's a string of 5 or 6 pics at the top of the first page of this post :? Don't know why you don't see them....got some kind of security software on? Working on your kid's pc where the naughty sites are blocked?

Try this link: Capnjuan showing off his F48. It should take you back to the top of this thread to page 1. If it doesn't, take two Guilds and call Kurt in the morning :? cj

Very nice, cap'n!!!!
Thanks Chazmo; I was funnin' eveyone with the pics of this guitar in the other F40/F48/Valencia post; the guitar on 'hold' of course was on hold for me... Unlike Metalman who may not have his 3-D glasses on, these pics really are there, aren't they? Thanks again. cj
