Thanks for all your input. I visited Hans & site and saw his book - I see now! Sadly, whilst it is a pretty instrument, it is wasted on me. I'm too fond of the electrics, so it sits around being ignored.

I've installed ebony bridge pins on a few guitars and, depending on the bridge/top color, they can certainly be "striking." 8)
