I recently picked up my newest F-47 in Ohio, a Corona F-47RCE. There is a finish crack on the lower bout which probably contributed to it being a second.

Anyway I put it beside the F-47CE that I bought from Scratch for a couple of photos.

Mahogany on the left, rosewood on the right

A couple of things, the pickguard has a much nicer fit on the rosewood one, no big whoop I know. The setup on the rosewood is not quite to my liking, but then again the setup on the mahogany one is superb and it also has bone saddle, nut and pins where the rosewood is factory I believe. Also the cutaway is slightly different between the two, again no biggie to me.

Until I get the rosewood setup I can't really do a fair comparison as the mahogany blows it away.

The colours are almost identical though it doesn't show in the photos. More like the rosewood one.

Overall, superb guitars.

Very nice Graham. Congratulations on adding to the family. When are you going to add a maple?

Very nice, but sure wish we coulda seen the pics sooner. :)

I understand Tony, but while I was visiting with cjd-player he wouldn't let me near his computer. Something about giving it the Canadian swine flu or something.

So here's a question. Why is the cutaway so different if it's supposed to be the same guitar?

  Was that yours Bob? I thought it was feeling a bit overwhelmed amidst all of the Taylors so i jut put it in my van for safe keeping. It is safe, and it is being kept.

Thanks again for a very smooth transaction.

Thanks Dave.

That, for me is the size and shape I like at the moment. I need an F-47MCE to complete the herd. Gonna have to look later in the year.

Many thanks to Bill Nichols for the TRC too.

Congratulations Graham on that nice pair and enjoy them in good health!
And I'm with you on the the size and shape preference.
I envy you finding one in mahogany; I wish Tacoma had made some.

Pretty darn nice, Graham!
Got any A/B recordings?

Not yet Mark.

The saddle on the rosewood one is not a Guild saddle and is causing some troubles at the moment. I'm going to switch it with the one on the mahogany and see if that helps. If so I'll probably get a new one mad from Bob Colosi.
