Reminds me of when one of my riding students had me come to their house for a couple of lessons. The parents had tons of money. They'd bought a brand new 1969 xj6 Jaguar, lemon yellow of all things. Brought it home new. Oil leak, so back in the shop for over a week. Came home, even more oil leaking. Back to the shop. They kept it for almost 5 months. They brought it home and no more leak. So Mrs. Lynn was pulling out of the garage to go shopping and forgot something, put it in park and ran in the house. By the time she got outside, the car was on fire and by the time the fire department got there it had self destructed!! Good thing she'd pulled out of the garage or it would've caught the whole house on fire. They had a tow truck come and pull the burnt out husk up on the trailer and tow it back to the dealer. They offered a new one, but they declined. Jeeze.
Ha!

My high school bestie's older brother had a beautiful Series 1 E-Type that he took me for a ride in one day. All I remember was seeing a little blue flame behind the tachometer, and then it was poof, and the car went dead. I'm happy to say that the car self-extinguished so it didn't burn up, and we were walking distance from the house!

It had a 289 cid V-8. Not huge by later standards, but it all comes down to how it's tuned, I reckon.
Was it supercharged? I believe the Hawks were.

My drummer in LA gave me a ride home from a gig a couple of times--in his Avanti.

Not really a "dream car" per se, but definitely unusual, the Janus was reminiscent of the BMW Isetta with the front end opening as the door.

Production started in June 1957, but with little sales success, only 1,731 cars were made in the first six months. One reason was the suboptimal handling: With an engine that was much lighter than the rear passengers, the advantages usually associated with a mid-engine configuration in racing and sports cars did not apply, and the centre of gravity changed a lot depending on how many passengers were present. Secondly, the car lacked the most modern elements seen on competitors' cars, and was not low priced. By mid-1958, having made only a total of 6,902 cars, Zündapp abandoned the project and sold the factory to Bosch.

While mini car is close to motorcycle - I post this net link.

My buddy and I bought a set of three ARIEL III 3-wheelers - awfully ugly - fun to drive - 12-inch wheels - only one wheel driving.
