Ah, my favorite BMW coupe! The E9 3.0 CSL was considered by many to be the original "M" car.

Honestly though, I'd still rather have that E60 M5 wagon. Europe gets all the cool stuff.

I used to have an MGB. Loved that car! Should have kept it! I've been looking at ebay motors and there are several for sale. In good shape, they're still relatively inexpensive compared to... well, 2 or 3-year old models of anything. Would be fun to have -- in summer around here. No good for winter, of course.

Does winter storage mess up a car? Gas goes bad, how about the oil? Battery would likely need to be pulled and kept out of freezing temps. What else?

Unplug the positive battery terminal. Maybe some gasoline stabilizer in the tank. I assume it can get pretty cold in northern Idaho. Make sure the anti-freeze mix is rather new and topped off. Don't try to fold the convertible top when it's below 50.

I can't think of much else. I know there are small " battery minder" trickle chargers you could attach to the battery to make sure it doesn't go dead even with one cable not attached. That might be worth a look.

This street-legal 1966 Ford GT40 raked in $6.3 mil at Mecum Kissimmee on Saturday.

They made like 4 of 'em and this sample had been in hiding for about 50 years.
Real wire wheels, street legal.
11.5-1 compression, no smog, street legal.
4 wheel discs, no ABS, street legal.
No air conditioning, that's what the little flap in the window's for, street legal.
No bumpers, street legal.
You can even get a license plate and drive it on the street legally.

I'd go looking to bait some Ferraris.
BTW the same GT40 won Le Mans twice in '67 and '68 after John Wyer Racing took over the campaign duties from Ford, who were content to have finally trounced Ferrari 2 times running in '66 and '67.

That'll teach ya to welsh on a deal, Enzo!! :p

Just get one from before they had to jack them up to meet bumper height requirements, and put those hideous bumpers on them!

Love the minlites, though. I owned one British sports car, and it cured me of British sports cars forever.

Haha. I never learned. I had two XJS Jags (not at the same time). One caught fire. Poof. An MGB TD, an MGB GT, and an MGB with the big rubber hideous bumper, lol. I guess I did finally wise up and got a Dodge Stealth (not the RT). That was a cool car.

You all are not making me regret having a Miata in the garage.

I love Miatas (British sports car with Japanese reliability), but I'm just not a ragtop guy. No room for corgis, either! That's what stopped me from buying a Cayman when I bought my current 535i. Can that really be 12 years ago?

twocorgis,
While I'd love to have another sports car "toy" (I had a Triumph TR-4A fifty-odd years ago) just because, it would be totally impractical if for no other reason than where would I put my hockey bag, goal pads and sticks?
Nothing smaller than a sedan is even a remote consideration.

GGJ.,
I assume this what it looked like when Bruce Wayne first drove it off the lot.

Wayne actually got it second-hand from Glenn Ford who used it in "It Started With A Kiss"d had it done up in "Resale Red" 'cause it photographed better:

Reminds me of when one of my riding students had me come to their house for a couple of lessons. The parents had tons of money. They'd bought a brand new 1969 xj6 Jaguar, lemon yellow of all things. Brought it home new. Oil leak, so back in the shop for over a week. Came home, even more oil leaking. Back to the shop. They kept it for almost 5 months. They brought it home and no more leak. So Mrs. Lynn was pulling out of the garage to go shopping and forgot something, put it in park and ran in the house. By the time she got outside, the car was on fire and by the time the fire department got there it had self destructed!! Good thing she'd pulled out of the garage or it would've caught the whole house on fire. They had a tow truck come and pull the burnt out husk up on the trailer and tow it back to the dealer. They offered a new one, but they declined. Jeeze.
