I love my Guild D70. It's the best guitar I have. I'm really having fun playing my new D25 though. I really didn't notice the arched back when i bought it, but now I'm digging it. I wonder if it will open up a little more? It's not as loud as the D70, but maybe the D70 is just a natural born cannon.

I'm going to be buying and playing Guilds for the rest of my life, but I will NEVER part with my '76 D25M. I cannot count how many musicians I have so much respect for who have expressed amazement at it's tone and volume...and remember, this guitar is not exactly a looker...that finish sure does betray the scuffs and chips...tomorrow I get her back with the K & K pure Western....

If I was to go right now, I'd take the '72 F112 with me. It's absolutely wonderful.

I've decided I'm just gonna take 500 sets of new strings. Price will be your guitar for a week. That way I get to play them all.

Kurt,
How do you find so many rare ones?
Believe it or not, most of the rare peices I found pre-ebay. I spent a lot of time going around to different music stores that sold "used" guitars. Living in Central New Jersey it's fairly easy to cover the vast quantity of stores from New York City to Philadelphia! Then when ebay came along, all the money I was saving from not purchasing gas, allowed me to buy even more stuff. (Of course the gas money probably didn't equal the shipping, but after all, guitar collecting isn't really a rational thing anyhow!

I have discriminating taste! You just have to learn to let them go if they're not up to your standards no matter how badly you want that model. Or, you buy it and hope another one in better condition comes along to replace it. I've done that with a couple of peices.

I would think you all have seen this thread by now, but just in case you missed it.

Hmmm.... for me, these would be two different Guilds.

I will die with my D-35... I bought it new when I was 17. She's been with me thru thick and thin. I played her, abused her some (I was young and foolish), but she's always been there. I'm hoping to pass her on to my kids and grandkids.

But, if I was to be stranded on a desert island, I wouldn't want my D-35... I want her to be somewhere safe for my kids. Rather, I'd want my D-46. She's versatile and a real joy to play, both fingerpicking and strumming (tho' if you ask me in a couple more months, it might be my newly acquired D-50).

That's WITH the electricity-available feature on this soon-to-be-crowded desert island, right?

Joe

Actually, it sounds pretty good unplugged. 8)
Besides, we'll just have Gilligan pedal the generator.
