It's been a few years since this thread was active, so let's see if there's any new input (slow day at work-looking through old threads).
I have only one guitar that I will never (intentionally) part with, my F-212. I've had it since 1964 and it really is almost part of me. It's hard to choose, because I would probably use my Mark V classical more, especially if I could also have my classical sheet music collection (roughly 900 pieces) to keep me from going stir crazy!

well if i am on a desert island, i would need to eat. I could use my D25 to crack open coconuts. in all seriousness, my herd is quite thin with non-high end guitars, so it is slim pickin's for me. but if i had to choose, i would choose my GAD 30. it fits me very very well and is very easy to play fingerstyle. all around, i feel it is a well rounded balanced guitar. of course i would upgrade to an F30 in a heartbeat!

Hmmm.....a desert island with electricity. Now there's a concept for you, and one that poses a long list of other questions.

But, to keep from veering too far off the thread, I'd take my D50. It's a special guitar for a number of reasons, but of all the guitars I've owned in over 40 years of buying/selling/trading, it's the one I've had the longest. We share a lot of history.

My '87 GF-60R is the one. My children will pry it from my cold dead fingers when I'm gone.
Well, it turned out that our own Graham was able to pry that one from my still warm and partly living fingers. So much for commitment.

Now when I go to that desert island I'll probably take its cousin the GF60-R-CE that Guildzilla sent me, but the DV-73 would have to come too.

Well, this is where my current strategy of having very few guitars pays off - I only have to pick between two guitars and a ukulele! Clearly, the ukulele is more appropriate to have on a desert island...

But of course, the obvious choice is my D-64. Of all the guitars that have passed through my house over the years, this is the only one that has stayed since I bought it new, it simply blows away any other guitar I have played.

'65 Guild D50 (Braz) bought new in '65, with lots of miles on it.

Starfire I if electricity or B-4E if not. Of course, as a bassist if I'm alone on a desert island I'd be better off with a D-25 and a beginning guitar book.

Said it before, if I had to keep just one it'd be the D25. It's got the most mojo and the most versatility for style and is the easiest to play. Speaking of electricity on a desert island, if the professor could make a radio from coconuts, why couldn't he fix a hole in a boat?

Well I guess my daughter would fight me over the D-35 so I will have to take the X-175 and work with the Professor to build the powerplant. The X-175 is loud enough acousticly to be fun to play without an amp so it would be my do all.

Oh man...that's a tough call...I am just crazy over my GAD25, and my Takacopy 12 string just sounds too amazing to leave behind...what a Dilema! Guess I would have to flip a coin and may the best guitar win!

My '73 F 50 R over the D62 (really mismarked D 60) and GF 60R. But if you allow me to include the Carlo Greco handmade dred that led me to downsize my Guild dred collection, well, I don't know.
