<<Update>>
I finally got to tryout (2) Guild acoustics yesterday.
1st was a Guild D225NT 12 string serial# AD421429 made in the USA at Westerly. Asking $1000.00
This was a used guitar in pretty clean condition appearance wise, minor scuffs light scratches here and there.
Action at the nut was a litter higher than I’m used to as well as down the neck.
It was tough to play. I did notice that the bridge had the beginnings of lifting due to the string pull.
All in all, decent tone wise, but to be honest, I was underwhelmed.
2nd was a D40 Traditional serial# C171640 $2399.99.
Last time I was in this store I seem to remember seeing this up on the wall. This was as I best remember approx. 2016.
It had no cosmetic flaws and appeared to be new, but has been in the store for a while. At least that is my impression.
The store was manned by someone who knew very little about their guitars. (not the owner)
Sound wise, on a scale from 1 to 10, ten being acoustic nirvana, I would rate it at a 4.
The strings were old and definitely in need of replacing. I’m sure it would have been better sounding with fresh strings. All in all, a bit disappointing!
Anyway, just an update. If Nashville pans out, I will be there before the end of the year.
In the meantime, I will be making a visit to Guitar Center to talk about ordering a new D55 USA.
Cheers
