Great new 40 minutes (!) video from Doyle running through a lot of Guilds! A new Oxnard built F-55 at the beginning and the end, his vintage Starfire III, the new Newark St. X-175 Manhattan Special, an Oxnard build F-512 Rosewood and two Cordoba Nylon models.
The sound is definitely worth watching those 40 minutes! Use good headphones for it or good speakers.

Sweetwater ought to play that on an outside billboard all the way through Christmas. What a blessing and "How Great Thou Art" is the first song I request Chris Bozung play on the Bozung Guitars he builds me.
Such a great video!!!

He's amazing - I can't do anything as effortlessly as he plays.

Slight thread veer - does he have that F512 strung with the lower octave on top? I've been thinking of trying it, but don't know if the nut would accommodate it.

No, he played her out of the box from Sweetwater, this F-512 was not his own. It's proof he can play both styles!

Thanks for the screen shot Ralf. Doesn't that look to you like the heavier gauge string is on the top for the E and A strings? Then the rest of the guitar is strung the traditional way. I wouldn't expect that to be the way they come out of the box, but I've never played a new one.

Oh! You had "confused" me with "lower octave" and I somehow thought "lower" = "thinner string" o_O! My bad, I'm sorry, you are totally right, obviously that is strung the way Doyle likes it! So either it indeed is now Doyle's own or Sweetwater prepared her for him to play.

You would need a new nut to make that string arrangement work. Not sure why he didn't also reverse the two D strings, too.

Yeah, you'd need to commit to it. Maybe he's only using the thumbpick on the E and A?

He never had. His explanation in general:
"The two As and Es are switched around to get a fuller sound while finger picking (the thumb picks downwards) as well as with the chording of the left hand as the two bass strings are easy to have one accidentally muted. With the bass on the top side the smaller or octave bass notes get muted first so the guitar actually has more bass while playing which gives a fuller sound which is very important to me."

The 2014 DD Signature had the E and A reversed. In addition to my memory from LTG that DD said he always had that done to his 12's, the spec Guild published, quoted by @SFIV1967 confirms my memory.

Watched that on YouTube and made my wife watch. She of course was blown away. He is such a beast. He simultaneously makes me want to pick it up and put it away.. my wife was like how come your F-55 doesn’t sound like that.. I was like uhhh his is maple and mine is rosewood.. yeah that’s the ticket.

I can see how his set up could minimize the jangle some may experience in a (non Guild of course), 12 string.
