I think I get your truth RBS - so I just sold all those D25s on ebay in the past hour and
decided to collect only different guitar models - I am so much happier now :ROFLMAO:

A two hour drive to spend some time trying out a prospective guitar and chatting with its owner can be a pleasant way to spend part of a day, even if you don't come back with the guitar. Who knows, you might make a new friend and get a great deal on a very nice Guild. If you don't buy the guitar it could still be a very enjoyable day. Unless you're driving in bad weather. That's usually not very enjoyable.

Well no.... now you're buying guitars in the same color. There "truth" would dictate none of that silliness.

You're banished to the other G site!

Boys aren't the only ones who can rationalize, or justify! ;)
Cynthia,
I used "boys" obviously because it rhymes with "toys", which is not to say that I'm claiming ownership of the phrase.
If I said "Girls and their pearls", (which was the best I could come up with) would that suffice, or would I be accused of being sexist because not all girls like or want pearls?
Your call.

Boys and their toys.
They can rationalize and justify anything.

I would agree with that! But sometimes logic has nothing to do with it.

GAS comes in many flavors. I have a couple guitars that I love so much I would not hesitate to buy another if it was a good deal. Why, because I may want them tuned differently, or maybe they will play differently and I’ll prefer one over the other, or maybe because F it I just want two for no other reason and can afford it.

I’m sure there are other reasons. Many people here have more than one of the same model. I say if the GAS is calling you then go for it! Worse case you had a great adventure, caught the fish, and can throw it back into the lake.

I'm old school (at this point emphasis on "old", unfortunately) and for the most part I don't do "sexist". All is whatever it is. Or maybe I'm just thick skinned and not easily offended. Or maybe I'm not bright enough to know when to be offended. (Between us, I don't think it's that last one. ;) )

By the way, I prefer high karat gold (allergic to low karat and costume jewelry) to pearls, just in case you needed to know for any reason. 😁

Edited to correct spelling.

Also to add: Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't turn down pearls by any means!

High carat gold huh? Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to keep that in mind.
Perhaps you should check out the Gibsons. I'm sure they made at least one or two j-45 variants tastelessly dripping with high carat gold. "The Real housewives of Beverly Hills" Commemorative model?

$650 or less is play money. You won't starve

You could be packed into a football stadium with 40,000 people instead.

You could end up with an upgrade and have a guitar to sell or keep for campfires.

You could just not like the guitar and you still get four hours of zen meditation and a drive through fast food lunch of your choice.

You could start an obsession to collect every variant in every year ever made and never get another good night's sleep again.

Flipprez left a bit after 8:00 this morning, about 7 hours ago. Maybe it won't be long before we hear how it went. Maybe there will be pictures!

Well, the trip was worthwhile, the git had no issues, good action, plenty of saddle et al. Has some minor finish checking but otherwise no cosmetic issues or even any small beauty marks or dings. My 1977 has brighter tone but I’m certain once I get new strings on it I won’t be able to tell a difference. My 77 has the old style strip tuners where this has grovers. This one does not have a rosewood bridge like my 77. This 87 is noticeably heavier in weight. We negotiated a price and off I went. I’ll string her up and see what if any tone difference there is. As I said I won’t keep them both, and at least for the moment I’d be leaning to the cherry 77. Thanks again to all for your input.
