Well, turns out a 1988 D25 NT is available for 650. From the photos and owners description it seems to be in excellent condition with the original case. I already have one D 25 in cherry stain which I love and is in great condition. 650 is not a bad price if it’s in the condition reported but I’ve got to drive two hours each way to look at it. I’d probably jump if it were more in the 500 range and the seller may well take that offer. Just wrestling with whether it’s worth the trip given I already have a D 25, albeit in a different color. Not to mention too many other gits sitting around in the rotation. I may wake up tomorrow and just decide to go get it. Go ahead…make my day…tell me to just shut up and go get it.😊

Great price; worth the 4 hr. roundtrip if it's in excellent condition.

I’ve traveled further. Make sure you ask all critical questions, get measurements, etc. and have a firm agreement on price (pending verification) BEFORE going to get it. You will be in no position to haggle once you are there.

Flipperz,
Buying a second example of a particular model of guitar because it is a different colour than the one one already owns is to my mind,
(and I'll be as diplomatic as I can be in my choice of words) a rather odd concept I only expect to encounter over at the Gibson site, where they all try to amass the never-to-be completed set of supposedly different versions of the j-45 on a regular basis.
I never expected to find it here as well.
Stay home. Don't waste time or gas.
Save your money for a truly different model of guitar, if you really must have another one.
You're welcome.

If it were an arch back version..that might be different.
But they asked for enablers, not logical thinkers!

This kind of silliness is something I refuse to enable or encourage at either photography or music sites. I always try to give good advice to those who ask for it, knowing that some of the time, it won't be what they want to hear.

Please don’t misunderstand, I would not purchase this d25 because it is a different color. The owner represents it is in like new condition with original case. If In fact it is In like new condition, then I will have improved my lot as my current d25 is not in like new condition although it is in VG condition. I likely would sell my present d25. Im not a d25 hoarder and I don’t need to have two of the same model. D25s in like new condition close by to my location rarely show up for sale, particularly at this price.

To my mind, its about the sound rather than the condition, because after all, it is MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS we are talking about.
And I really wonder how much difference there will be between the sound of the two? Or does that even matter?
Would you still sell the one you have, if it sounded better than the one you are considering buying?
You've made your case, and you will do what you do.
I still don't get it.

As Jack Reacher would say, that's for damn sure. If I recall correctly, and if I wasn't dreaming, I could swear I recently saw a D25 that was going for upwards of $2,000!

That sounds like a very fair asking price - if it all checks out with
no serious damage, plays well, doesn't need a neck reset, could be a great buy.
Btw, my name is Seth and I'm a former D25 hoarder 😁

RBSinTo,

"This kind of silliness is something I refuse to enable or encourage at either photography or music sites."

The arched back construction D25 is a different sounding animal than the flat back braced D25. I can make the logical argument that someone who has a flat back may indeed find the archback a worthy addition to their guitar list. It's not silly at all. But even then, the OP did not ask for reviews or hard opinions. They asked for enablers. People who might give him the green light on making a 4 hour round trip. We happily did just that. If the OP is really looking for a better version of what they already have, there is no harm in that either.
