If the binding is coming loose it can be as simple as 're-gluing it, which is not usually a big deal. The binding issue could indicate that the guitar needs to be better humidified, but being from Jackson , Mississippi that would surprise me. Maybe there is a member in that area that can check it out.

It's not so much that the glue is coming loose, as the binding is shrinking. Even though we usually see this in older guitars, I had it happen in my former '99 D4. If it hasn't shrunken too much, it can be glued back easily, but sometimes, it can shrink so much, that it has to be replaced, or taken off and reglued, with a splice to cover the gap caused by the shortened length.
its caused by the plastic off-gassing.

It usually happens in an inner curve. I would think this one isn't too bad and could simply be reglued, but you'd have to check.

I recommend checking it out if you're within striking distance. The GV guitars I'm acquainted with are (IMO) terrific instruments. I have a GV70 that is fantastic -- one of the best sounding Guilds I know of.

I haven't seen much discussion of that model here (or anywhere else for that matter) -- maybe because there are so few out there?

What my luthier does with plastic binding repairs is to remove the old glue from both surfaces, then warm the binding with a hair dryer, then glue and clamp. Heat will give the plastic some of its elasticity back.

Off gassing from an inner curve? Chris you're making it way to easy for a geezer joke, butt I'll pass.

Billy, as the others stated it's really not a big problem. Check it out if you can.
