Got a call from a relative down in the DC area who is pinned down and shut in by some serious snow. They expect about 20", biggest snowfall ever for the area, local news is reporting. This sort of thing is life-as-usual up in my part of the country - so I'm sending along well wishes for safety and warmth to LTGers in the area as they prepare for a very white Christmas!

That would be me. Luckily, unlike Qvart, I still have power and heat so the biggest problem will be avoiding cabin fever (that's what the Guild is for) and a heart attack when it stops and I have to shovel. Thanks.

Yep, still no power. Spent the day shoveling snow but it's still not worth trying to get out. Just fired up the grill for a second round of food. Standing in the cold drinking a beer. Gotta make the best of it, but I don't dare open the guitar cases anytime soon!

Good luck up there in NoVA!

Frosty, I think we're gonna' get slammed tonight or tomorrow down here. How about you?

More snow to the south, it seems. Estimate is only 5" here with the fun beginning tonight. Good luck, Chaz!

Qvart, some kin of mine are just leaving Asheville today, heading southwest. They told me this morning that it was pretty messy down there.

At sea level here, we're getting a good soaking, but up the road 20 miles as the crow flies and the elevation rises, they're getting a good dumping.
The ski area is smiling big time, of course!

Expecting 15"+ by me tonight with blizzard conditions. 35+ mph winds. Only about an inch right now but already the vehicles are slipping and sliding into each other on my local roadways. I have responded to 4 accidents in the past few hours, sure there will be more. My firehouse will be going on "standby" in a couple of hours.....all hands on deck. We have wireless at the firehouse so I'll bring my laptop and check in, I'll probably be there overnight.
Stay safe folks!

Captain Dan, you are the man!
Thanks from afar for all that you fire/rescue guys do.

We got about 4 to 6 inches here near Pittsburgh today. More toward the east.

Nothing unusual for western Pennsylvania.
A nice pretty snow.

Although the South East UK had about 8 inches a coupl of days ago, all we got here last night was a slight temperature rise, rain, then it refroze and tne rain turned to snow, so we had ice with a thin skim of snow on top - made the roads a bit treacherous this morning :!:

We've got about 4-6'' here in Vienna but I'm afraid the white beauty will be gone within two days.
It makes the city so quiet …

Very odd indeed. My snow shovel is still in the basement. Have not had a reason to get it out yet.

We'll get our winter but thus far November and December are clear.

Ended up with less than 1" dusting here in Northern New England.

That's less than 2.54 cm for the rest of the world.
