My Dad could use an ablation procedure, but he just turned 80 and I'm not sure they would risk it. They keep trying to get his drug cocktail in the right quantities.

"I lost over 8 pounds since yesterday."

That's a lot of trips to the can, man. That's a gallon of " water " you lost.

When they're monitoring your I's and O's (inputs and outputs) for fluid retention you're usually on a catheter. They don't trust you to monitor your own fluid intake OR fluid release..... nope. Sounds like you tend towards congestive heart failure dread. Be careful and take care....

Continuing with the IV Lasix cocktail, peeing like a racehorse. That is the goal. Down about 14 lb. so far. Looks like I'll be here a few more days; they are not planning on doing a cardioversion.

Still in a-fib?? Have they mentioned a drug called Multaq? It's a rhythm drug. The second time I went into A-fib after 3 weeks on Multaq I just converted back and they didn't have to cardiovert me. You could always ask about it.

Here's what I found on it, Tom:

Dronedarone can double your risk of death if you have certain heart conditions. You should not use this medicine if:

  • you have severe heart failure;
  • you were recently hospitalized for worsening heart failure symptoms (shortness of breath, chest tightness, night-time breathing problems, swelling, rapid weight gain); or
  • you have a "permanent" atrial fibrillation that cannot be changed back to a normal rhythm (this will be determined by your doctor).

Hoping you keep making progress in the right direction, Dread. Definitely not a goood time for long-term hospital stays.

Yeah, fortunately I'm pretty much isolated in my private room.
