These look like a dead ringer for the elusive F-50 Standard I foolishly sold a few years back.

I get that they are MIC, that they are not finished in NCL, that they have a pau ferro fret board/, and that the tuners and electronics are cheap.

But for under $600, all in, the F-250 appears to have essentially the same “guts” as the F-50 Standard from New Hartford, with a solid Sitka spruce top, flamed maple arch-back, and mahogany neck, in a really nice sunburst.

Seems too good to be true at that price point.

Opinions?

Thanks, Ralf. If Richard thinks the F-250 is worthy, that is enough of an endorsement for me.

I found an open box deal on Amazon for under $500, delivered. Well worth the risk. Done.

The first thing l will do is dig out that UST pickup from the saddle slot and install a bone saddle.

I have been avoiding most forms of social media, Tom. It started to consume me, especially after COVID hit and I started working from home.
I am better now. Thanks for asking.

One thing that has become evident in the Guild world since I plugged back in is how much higher the prices on guitars are. I started looking for a real-deal full-bling F-50. Reverb prices are currently north of $2800. I can remember buying a '75 in good shape for half that maybe five years ago. Times have changed!

All the more reason to test the "Westerly Collection" waters (much as I despise that name). If $500 buys even half of what $3000 does, that equation still works out in my favor.

Pre-COVID, I was playing out a lot, getting gigs, and making some bucks playing music. it was a lot of fun! I am hoping to get back to that soon.

I own only one stage guitar, a Huss & Dalton dreadnought equipped with a K&K. I don't baby it, but there are certainly bars in which I have to keep an eye on it. Having a jumbo that looks great, sounds decent when amplified, and is cheap enough that I don't have to worry about it getting all dinged up would be a nice alternative in high-risk situations (like the drunken pig roast I played last fall...wild).

I bought the F-250 as an open box special from Amazon. If I don't bond with it, I can just slide it back in the box and return it. Low risk, potentially high reward!

Good to hear from you, Neal. Hang in with us.

I hope you do get back to playing out soon. For me, it's my trumpet, rather than guitar, where I socialize and rehearse/perform. Only recently, after essentially a two-year hiatus, has my concert band been able to start up again... This weekend I have a performance at a great concert hall in Worcester, MA where I'm re-joining with some old friends whom I haven't seen in a long time. It's refreshing and cathartic to get back out there and commune with your fellow musicians and audiences.

I hope you do bond with the F-250; it looks really nice. And, honestly, the instrument doesn't really matter as much as the other stuff I was just talking about. I'm glad it's a Guild though. :) :)

I honestly thought this was going to be a thread about Super Duty Ford Trucks!! But guitars are a good subject as well. I can't wait to hear your impressions on the new axe.
I didn't even catch that, Tom, and I almost always do!!! That's what this guitar should be named by Guild... F-250 "Super Duty Navarre". Hans, are you paying attention for Vol. II ??? :D :D :D
