Rocky, I used to hang out with some studio bass players in New York back in the early '70s. One was named Russell George. When George was young. He went to a gig/party/something-or-other and the bass player had an early P-Bass. Russell tried it, but had to put the Bass in a chair seat and play it like a stand-up before he could get it going!!
I was playing a Guild fretless bass in Repair Shop and Russell noticed me playing.
He said," Hey man, nice playing. Are you working with anybody?"
I said, "Yeah, maybe you heard of us? A Trio. We're called, Me, Myself and I"
He laughed and said, "Harry, it's 90% Perspiration and 1O% Inspiration."
He played with a lot of name players, like Aretha. One time he came in after a studio gig and said, "Man, she kissed me on the Head!
Nice Guy.
