Any luthier worth his salt is backed up on major work. The business model seems to be get the setups and minor repairs out quick as the major stuff is worked into the mix.

Congrats! I hope you like it! I had an F30RCE from NH and it was very comfortable. It did not feel small to me and I am a large man with two jumbos in the stable. I cant imagine it wont sound amazing.

He’s a great guy and actually reasonable, but he’s backed up for months or more.
Yep, great work and great guy, and so backed up with projects that I think it was the beginning of last July he posted a notice that he wouldn't be taking on anything more than quick setups or such until 2022. So maybe he's worked his way through his backlog and might be available again for new jobs in the near future...

UPDATE:

Nothing, ha.

The FedEx package has not been updated since 12/1, which was a departure scan from somewhere in OH. Current status is: DELAYED/PENDING. Bernunzio has opened a claim with FedEx.

I'm sitting at: Ordered 11/24; Shipped 11/29; last update from FedEx: 12/1. My sense is that the package is lost or stolen at this point. I've not dealt with FedEx very often, but apparently this is something of a problem with them lately (based on Reddit posts I've seen).

I've mentioned this on previous similar occasions, but in my experience these types of problems result from more than one shipping label being visible on a carton.

So, if Bernunzio affixed a label addressed to you, but inadvertently left a previous label on the box, it may have entered the FedEx facility via your label but left that facility on a different label (en route to somewhere else).

That is really awful to hear. FedEx is my last choice when shipping. I’ve heard so many horror stories. Hopefully it’s just delayed somewhere but still, not a good feeling.

On interesting, hadn't thought of that. In that event though I would think the opposite would be true, as the last scan is a departure. So maybe the wrong label was scanned on arrival- then it may have been sent to the previous recipient?

If that's the case, then no telling where it went or who got it (could have even been delivered elsewhere at this point).

It's a waiting game at this point- I assume at some point FedEx will have to admit it's lost, then I would just get a refund from Bernunzio and they will deal w/ FedEx. Either that, or it's ultimately delivered to me. So I suppose it's simply a matter of how long I am wiling to wait before giving up and requesting a refund. I don't have a hard time frame on me, as I have simply been waiting for *any type* of update (i.e., okay we found it and it's gonna take another 10 days- okay cool, as long as there is some information there).

Not that it helps in this case but it is always a good practice for a shipper to remove or cross out any bar codes or address like information when they reuse packaging. My local Post Office employees are pretty friendly and service oriented and I have seen many cases where they will hand someone a Sharpie and talk them through "preparing" the box. Before Covid they would wield the Sharpie themselves.

Yeh I’m pretty mindful of this myself when shipping. There tend to be lots of little stickers and codes written on boxes.

This is only a theory however- from what I’m reading lately about FedEx, this type of problem is not uncommon. Not sure what’s going on with them, but it’s difficult to fully blame external factors when UPS, USPS, etc do not seem to be showing such trends.

FedEx's express services (e.g. shipped via cargo planes) are excellent, in my experience. They have the best tracking, too.

FedEx Ground, not quite as professional. Their drivers are contractors, not employees, and it shows.

I've shipped work items for years, both within the US & internationally. RE: tracking, I would rank the shippers as follows: FedEx > UPS > USPS > DHL or Purolator.

I'm hoping it hasn't been sitting in a truck exposed to the vagarities of the weather....
Vicariously feeling your pain.

Good news. Like I said. I've bought and sold guitars that were 'bottlenecked' and put aside. I've somehow calmed myself.

I haven't been on the forum in a while and came across this post, and thought it was wild. Bernunzio is local to me, I remember seeing the ad on their site, "sold", before I knew it was there and thinking dang, I bet that was a great guitar. Hope that you get it soon! FedEx has been completely garbage for me in recent times, moreso than USPS or UPS. My last three had a delivery date that just wasn't even sensical based on package location, and sure enough it lapsed and just says no ETA. :(

I've been thinking about going over to Bernunzio's to check out that D-35 they have. If someone on the interwebs doesn't snag it first anyhow. Also genuinely curious about the budget Eastman dreads.

So I finally got the F30, it arrived in great shape- no issues. It plays well and sounds fantastic. However I will likely pass it on to the next, as it's a bit small for me.

Are you saying you need more of a dread body tone and size, Don?
I *think* so, yes. But I would say an F47 hit the spot too, so maybe doesn't have to be dreadnought. Mostly the physical body side is just a bit too small for me (I'm 6'1" and have broad shoulders).

That said, this F30 seems to somehow have more bass than the '67 F47 I had recently. I'd say it has about the same amount of bass and volume as my '68 D35, though there's a certain crispness and immediateness to the tone on this F30 ... and it lacks a bit of depth compared to the D35.
