I randomly saw this last week and grabbed it pretty quick, as the price was right. I’ve never owned an F30, so curious if it will be too small for me, as the F47 seemed just right.

I hope it survives the trip coast to coast this time of year. Let us know what you think after you try it out.

Funny you should mention that, as it’s been in a FedEx delayed/“Pending” state w/ past scan in OH since yesterday, past the expected delivery date.

Do the numbers denote sizes?
If so, the F30 is 17 units smaller than the F47.

Very nice, Donny! I've bought guitars from these guys, as they're semi-local. High integrity shop and 2 day trial period to return. Don't worry about FedEx, they start out bumpy, but catch up to their bottlenecks and move efficiently, especially from this northern E-W corridor.

I was able to swap out the nut on my '63 for a Martin bone and gain just a tad more string spacing. It completely changed my decision to keep or pass on as too narrow for my fingers. I can show you the exact nut and seller I bought from if you're interested, but perhaps yours already has a wider string spacing, as it seems in the photo. My orig was 1 11/16" nut, went to 1 3/4".

Well if it's too small I'm sure there'll be some interested buyers on this forum (me)! I'm thinking to sell one of my D-40s to make room for a Hoboken F-30. I've been looking around for one for a while.

Interesting … I actually prefer the smaller neck width and skinnier necks myself.

I’ll keep you in mind if it doesn’t work out for me … possible hit you up for a trade? :D

This past summer I purchased a 1968 sunburst F-30 that's fantastic (it has the 1 5/8" neck). Yours looks to be in very good shape and should sound as good as it looks, if not better. A luthier who's worked on a number of F-30s of that period said he's found the Hoboken Guilds to be consistently great. Here he is playing mine:

The strings were just changed before the video and I think it sounds much better now, less strident.

But he has videos of 2 other Guild F-30s he's worked on that are also really interesting--including a beat-up one that had been kept on a sailboat for decades but still sounds good (after he repaired it).

Look forward to hearing how you like yours when it arrives.

Way cool, congrats! Should provide tons of tone! And... are those Van Ghent tuners?

I’ve always wanted to own a guitar fixed up by Jake Wildwood. He seems like he does amazing work.

Very nice. +1 on them being a top notch dealer.

I know you prefer Hoboken but check out the GF-60 R they have....

Several times my '71 F30 "Aragorn" has beat out every single guitar in the house, and lately even more so.

The tone is as nicely rounded as the D35 is flat, and it is loud, it won't fall apart when you beat on it, of course neither does the D35, that's what it does best.

The EQ is shifted towards the bass, makes the treble strings sound sweet.

I can't afford Hoboken like high flyer Donny ;] but this '71 is close enough to the era for me, only weighs 4.20lb

It's been through hell but it wasn't played much. Lots of checking and warping of the top, but never a single crack. What a guitar, and that burst...
