Im not sure if this fits here - but didnt they try an ebony bridge on the D-55 and then go back to the EI Rosewood -i tried one with Ebony which kinda threw me off , the Guild sound on the guitar is traditionaly Rosewood -im not sure where their at now . The ebony just had a touch of Martin sound in it which i wasnt fond of .

My '99 D-55 and '82 D-50 have/had ebony bridges.

Sometimes Guilds hang around the store a while.

Very true. I know of a store with a D-55 with a 2006 serial number; been hanging in the same place since new.

Does anyone know if the newer F512's will have an ebony or rosewood bridge? I have seen some more recent models that looked more like ebony.

Pickguards.

I have seen the 512's with real nice looking "figured" looking pickguards while the some that just seem more red in color which I don't care for.

Here is an example:

I prefer this....

All the F512s from Tacoma come with rosewood bridges, Bill. I'll double check that at the store today. The picture you have above is either a 2007 or 2008 (with the non-dotted pins and the strap button). I think that bridge is rosewood, but again I'll double check.

Bill,

I just got back from the store. The mid-2008 Tacoma F512 has a rosewood bridge. I suspect all the Tacoma F512s have rosewood bridges.

Thanks, Chaz. I suspected they did have the rosewood bridges, I guess just some are darker than others. Is the pickguard material going to look like the 2007-2008 like I pictured above?

Peace

A new one will look like that first picture, Bill.

One from 2006 will look like mine once they switched to the smaller pickguard (sometime during that year) where the middle ring of the rosette is exposed. Here's a pic:

Thanks Chaz!

If mine looks like yours I'll be real happy!

Are you back in the hunt, Bill? If so, best wishes!!! I can't say enough about the Tacoma F512.

So, just to be clear, a brand new F512 will pretty much look just like your first picture. The differences with my 2006 are: it'll have a pickguard of roughly the same shape and material, but may not come as close to the bridge; it'll have bridge pins that don't have an abalone dot; it'll have a side-mounted strap button (as opposed to none); and it'll (probably) have a slightly darker rosewood bridge than mine.

If you go back to 2006, you might want to decide if the compensated saddle and smaller pickguard (doesn't cover middle ring in the rosette) are important to you... At some point in 2006, those new features were added.
