Patience pays off - The D140 - Thumbs up

If you have to buy the tools you need to do it yourself, it makes paying someone to do a setup a lot more attractive.

Patience pays off - The D140 - Thumbs up

You don't have to know how to do a setup for them to be a good deal. I just had my old GAD-30R set up by a local luthier for $114.00. It plays better than it ever has. Add $114 to the cost of a new Westerly Collection guitar and you still have a great value.

Unfortunate tool marks in the binding

I was talking about Fender shutting down the Tacoma guitar company and the Tacoma brand of guitars, not the factory. My memory is that Fender bought the Tacoma guitar company, shut the brand down, and moved Guild manufacturing from Corona to the Tacoma factory. Then, a few years later, Fender...

Unfortunate tool marks in the binding

You never know. When Fender owned Guild, it bought Tacoma to shut it down.

Unfortunate tool marks in the binding

I'd be more worried about the guitar being damaged or lost during shipping. Jim

    Guild gad-30 and gad-f40p differences

I had that happen on my GAD_30R. I took it to a local luthier who fixed the bridge, installed a pickup and gave the guitar a good setup. I have it back now and it is better than ever.

    Hot mess mods

Also my favorite. He was playing it when I first saw the Dead live in March 1973. It had a grit that his later guitars did not have.

    Hot mess mods

This one might qualify as a hot mess if someone else had owned it:

Do you get complimented on your driving?

Mine arrived yesterday but I have not had time to put it on. How did you get the old guard off? A hair dryer?

The last two times I ordered through the Starbucks app, they could not find my order when I got there to pick it up.

Mine says ATB for Antique Burst. They may have used different abbreviations in different production runs. I'd like to change the pickguard on mine too.

Is Pentax the Guild of the camera world?

That's because the K1000 is the darling of the film crowd these days. I've been reading that Pentax is going to introduce a new film camera soon. Not an SLR but a point and shoot.

    ROTD thread

About 10 years ago, there was a battle here between Girl Scout troops that ended up in court. One troop was selling cookies at the standard $4/box in its region. The troop in the region next door decided to move into the first troop's area and sell cookies for $3.50.

    ROTD thread

When I was in college and still living with my parents, Keith Richards lived up the street from me in Cherry Hill, NJ. I had no clue at the time except that I once went to a bar called "The Shepard's Inn" and the bartender said "You should have been here two hours ago Keith Richards and Mick...

Is Pentax the Guild of the camera world?

Spotmatics are worth that much until you try to sell yours. Then you are lucky to get a third of that price. I know from experience.
