Have we seen this model, yet?

Gloss mahogany center-block SFII, with a stop tail, gold hardware and DeArmonds?

    Newark Street over the years

It just occurred to me that we're approaching a decade or so of the original NS models (175s, M-75s, Starfires, etc). Those of you that have had a few, have we begun to notice any variation in spec/quality over the years? Seems like most of the early 2010s ones I see for sale online still look...

So how many (vintage) S-100s got made with mini-hums?

There's at least the one that made it into the catalog, but even that text boasts of Guild's "new" pickups. Was it a one-off/prototype? Where is it now?

Did I miss some Newark Street changes?

Look at this M-75 for sale on Reverb: Finish looks much browner/darker, with a more subtle burst that's more of a rim burst than the heavy-shouldered burst I'm used to seeing. Also a tortie guard and sporting a made in China sticker. Are these no longer Korean...

Holler if you've got something to move and I'll pass it along.

    1989 PRS Standard FS/FT $1800 shipped

Really clean 1989 PRS Standard with the slickest rosewood fretboard I've ever played. 7.5lbs, neck depth .846/.929 1st/12th, all original Vintage Bass/HFS pickups w/ sweet switch. $1,800 shipped, will gladly discount for local pickup, if anybody's in the OKC area (or reasonably close). I'll...

Random thought -- besides manufacturing complexity, why not have an oval fretboard?

Wouldn't something that's flatter towards the middle and curved towards the edges give the best of both worlds? Seems like it'd allow a comfortable, curved feel while keeping the fretboard from choking out the high E on bends. Probably hard to achieve this with precision by hand, but I bet...

Seems Al Caiola passed away two days ago. Not really much out there from scanning google news results.

    Parts Rant

Sidetrack, but I'd like to rant a minute... What annoys me about the Guild store is the limited selection of parts. You should be able to buy a B-7 brand new from Guild, since it's a regular production part on their NS SF-Vs and VIs (in nickel and gold, respectively), yet their online store...

    Case repair? Separated top...

So my wife's new SG came in one of those brown/pink '90s Gibon cases, which is pretty nice, however, the arched plywood top has come loose from the thin rim around the edges. It seems to still be tight through the neck area, but I believe the whole body perimeter is loose and really only held...

Anybody interested in trading something for my 1974 SF-6?

FS/FT: 1974 walnut/mahogany Starfire VI $2750 Not sure I actually want to move this, but it's not getting much attention and I've been itching to do some trading lately, which is a sickness. I'm not looking for anything specific, though I've been wanting a Les Paul for a while. It looks...

    FS/FT: 1989 PRS Standard

I've owned/played a few different '80s-'90s PRSs over the years; this is hands-down the best I've ever touched and that's the reason it's the one I still own. There's a reason Paul himself likes the mahogany ones the best, but, beyond that, this thing feels fantastic to play. I have no idea...

    '66 Starfire XII -- $1,250 shipped

This guitar presents extremely well, but could stand a neck reset. The joint is solid, but the angle is shallower than I'd like. It's playable, but I'd set the action a little lower if it was possible, hence the suggestion it would benefit from a reset. Very, very clean, one small crack in...

Easy (for a luthier) project: 1963 Goya G-30 classical

This guitar needs some glue, lol. In short, it needs the neck reglued (it was cleanly removed w/o heat/steam/splintering), a top crack glued up (typical bridge-to-butt), and a split back brace glued back together. I think, for somebody that has the skills, it would be a pretty easy fix -- just...

Gear I've got on OKC Craigslist

I'd prefer not to ship this stuff -- the amp would surely be too expensive, given its weight -- but maybe somebody happens to be local here. If you're interested in either guitar, we could talk shipping, too. '68 Bandmaster w/ EVM-10M-loaded Tremolux cab - $1200 Lawsuit-era Takamine F-307S...

Parts drawer cleanout: Wolfetone P-90s, SD minihums, y mas!

Money's tight and I've come to the realization I'm not likely to find uses for this stuff anytime soon... I have 2 sets of Wolfetone P-90s. These are from his first batch of P-90s -- I bought him a bunch of bobbins in trade for finished pickups. One is a conventional bar magnet/screw-pole...

Tone, the Muller roller bridge, and armchair physics...

I am going to go ahead and admit I don't like the Muller bridge -- I think it imparts a banjo-like, plunky tone acoustically and, although that doesn't make it through to the amplified sound so much, I don't like it and I think I know why they sound that way to me. I'd previously just assumed...

    Chrome HB-1 with bezel - $150 - Factory experiment?

I believe this to be a factory experiment, as mentioned in this post by Hans. There is some text I don't fully understand that's written with the same rotary engraver often used for dates (and then traced over in black marker). As best I can decipher, it reads: 6000 Turns 44.5 Poly 7000 (?) It...
