    D55 or F55 Quest

The post Fender Westerly D55’s are very good. My ‘98 was better than the D60 and the D66. It had the thinnest top of all of them. I also owned a post Fender Westerly D40 that was lighter and more responsive than a ‘76 D40 that lived here for a while.

    DV-52 HG?

I have owned both versions. The herringboned rosette was the better one. Neither was on par with my ‘98 D55…

John Pearce phosphor bronze, lights or mediums depending. EJ16’s. Molson ale in my long past drinking days.

7 years, perfect. We gave up on churches and replaced them with weekly bible study.

    D35 vs D40

Yes, true. The 98 was also lighter braced, thinner finished and had the narrowest of the three modern headstocks.

    D35 vs D40

Both great guitars, I much preferred the ‘98. It seems that the Westerly post Fender builds were very good. I had a 99 D55 that I liked a lot better than a Corona built one I had the pleasure to play for a while. I’d a kept the 99 D55 had I not found something I liked better. I only let the D40...

    D-20 Oxnard...Opinions?

IMHO the early post fender Westerly builds are some if the best that came out of that factory. I owned two, a D55 and a D40. They were both better sounding than the two similar Gruhn/Walkers I owned.

    Hercules stand foam deteriorating??

I place mole skin on my stands everywhere my guitars touch them. I use the thicker type that comes on a roll and cut to size. Works great, stays stuck, no finish damage.

    NGD D55

Thumbs up for the last of the Westerly Guilds. The 98 D55 I owned was right up there with the best of them. I also owned a D40 from that period which was excellent.

    JF-65 12, JF-30 12, F-412, F-512: Aside From Bling, Do They Differ Much?

I have owned and loved 12 stringers. Best sounding one I ever came across was a Takamine hanging in a pawn shop. Went back to get and, you guessed it, it was gone.

Best value for a vintage rosewood dreadnaught

I’m not saying that in general, but out of the ones that I owned the herringbone one sounded better. But I’ve had two D50s, and one sounded better than the other, two D55s and one sounded better than the other. Same with the two D40’s. All great sounding guitars. Out of all the Guilds I’ve...

1984 Guild D66 Rosewood Dreadnought Rare Bird

I once owned one of these, great guitar but I also owned a D55 and aD60 that sounded better and I presently own a Martin, that, when purchased took the place of the D66. The construction was immaculate, the sound, although very good, wasn’t what I would consider top of the line.
