I'm about to retire from the Music Director job at our church, I've been doing this for 7 years now on a volunteer basis. It's getting to be a bit much for me - planning, organizing, song selection, communicating with the other musicians, practice, playing the service, every week...

Sounds like a job for a younger person!

Thanks Stu, I will certainly offer encouragement, but we are looking for a new church as well.

Yeah, seven years as Music Director is a lot of work and a darn good run. Bravo dread.

At first I thought you meant the church was looking for a new location, but then I realized maybe you meant you're looking for a different church?

Even if that's the case, I'm not asking why, I'm only trying to be sure I understood your meaning.

And yeah, 7 years, interesting, it just hit me: that's jubilee time, right? I salute your dedication, but sometimes it's time to move on..best wishes for next step. :)

Yeah, Al, Mrs. Dread and I are seeking out a new church too, for a variety of reasons.

Dread,
Make sure the new church has a 200-300’ practice space and an unskilled assistant who keeps his/her mouth shut. 🤫🤫🤫

7 years, perfect. We gave up on churches and replaced them with weekly bible study.

Problem is, seems like there are only tiny churches with an organist, or mega-churches with ultra-contemporary worship bands. Neither of which suit me.
