I found this on the net, on a UK site called MAJ Electronics, which specializes in electronic spare parts of guitaristic interest. It's full of fun stuff to read, so I rip this joke off of them:
A STORY FROM ROY SAINSBURY...
I recently played a solo guitar gig for the wedding of a pleasant couple in their 70's. I played outside at first in the sunshine whilst the guests enjoyed drinks and photographs. Having then moved into the indoor room I played the first set ensuring that their request for a "South Pacific" medley was included plus some well tried pleasers like "Albatross". Several people indicated that they were enjoying the music and after a short break off we went for the second set. On these occasions I often have guitar enthusiasts talk to me and I was pleased to see a man striding purposefully towards me. The conversation went like this:
Him: "What guitar is that?
Me: "This is a 1959 Gibson L4c archtop. It was a very good period for Gibson who made some fine instruments at this time. The pickup is a DeArmond model 1100.These were made from the 1950's to 1970's and are now becoming very rare. They are sought after for their warm tone quality and fetch high prices".
Him: "Well it's TOO LOUD"
Yes yes, wedding gig stories.
My favorite, that happened to a band I was in (it really did)--
We were setting up, hadn't even started playing, when a woman approached the stage and said, in
a sit-com correct German accent--
"I am ze mother of ze bride, and you are too loud."
Honestly, we hadn't played a note.
Can't make this s**t up.
