News here tell that there is about 16 000 square miles that have burnt - no wonder there's enough smoke to choke US, too.

Better today then yesterday, but still smells like smoke. Going to head over to the Boardwalk later to see if there's a fresh sea breeze.

Howard County, MD today. In some neighborhoods you could see the haze as close as a block away.
I told myself this morning it was fine. But by the end of the day I was feeling chest congested and some minor coughing. Seemed to get smokier as the day went on.
But nothing compared to what you all up north are getting.
I think if no one told me what it was I would just think it is summer haze and wonder why my chest feels stuffy today.
This is making me think about winds and nuclear fallout. So you could bomb Canada and the rads could travel that easily down the east coast of USA?!?!

I feel for you guys. I don't think I would cope well. I can't tolerate smoke from a cigarette, diesel fumes, etc. My lungs just refuse to take in tainted air.

Wishing everyone the best and certainly hope it dissipates soon!

Yes. But in a traditional nuclear war scenario you are already in trouble because Washington DC will be a target and that's a lot closer to you.

really bad here in NJ where it touches PA & NY... I had planned some outside work this evening, but decided to hold off a day or 2
You're in Beemerville? I'm in Vernon. We were driving back from Gettysburg last Wednesday and it was surreal. The smoke was awful. We had to keep the windows closed the whole way with the AC on.

How is it today, folks? I was away over the past weekend, and it seems like it's all cleared up here in central MA. Hope New Yawk and Joisey are finally in the clear... ?

Well, now the air is filled with water falling from the sky.

If that's a problem up there I'll take it down here! Unless we get some water falling from the sky I fear the field of sweet corn is not going to offer much corn.

Small World! I'm in Frankford with a corner of my property in Wantage... but the mail comes to Branchville! I sit on my deck in the mornings and evenings and listen to critters over at Space Farms.

I know Frankford well, and Space Farms, where they've been cited numerous times for mistreatment of the animals. I knew Fred Space. The family is a bunch of Sussex County bizarros. Fred reportedly fathered illegitimate children left and right. I have no proof, but have been told by multiple people in the know.

I'm actually in Highland Lakes. Been here 38 years now.

We had ice falling from the sky for a few minutes along with some fun lightning, but that didn't last long.

I grew up in O'burg and Fred did annual "Indian Culture" presentation for my Scout troop... my folks moved us from Totawa in 72, I graduated WVRHS, was a freshman the year it opened up (class of 86). I relocated 'down the shore' in 93... and bought a chunk of woods back up here in 2020.

My weed connection back in the late 80s / early 90s lived in your area... husband & wife team, had a Folk/Blues band called 11:11.
(legal or not now, I gave that up the mid 90s)
