What strings do you use on your Guild?

Any strings I touch instantly oxidize and sound terrible. I've tried JPs, Martin, Guild, and uncoated D'Addarios... they all last about 30 minutes, if even that.

I like the coated D'Addario EXPs, but they only last a day or two before going dead on me.

Thus, I am forced to use Elixir Nanowebs. I like the sound of a new set of EXPs much better than the Elixirs, but I need my strings to last!

Any other ideas of what I can use? You guys can just call me "Mr. Acid Hands"

hey acid hands, it's acid hands here too. we should start a club. I don't know if you saw this old thread, but I did get some ideas from it viewtopic.php?f=5&t=15310. The most helpful advice I had tried so far was to try GHS bright bronze to get the bright sound. They did last for a while but alas, after about a week, down they went. I have not really had to worry as of late since my dark sounding guitar (GAD 30M) is gone. I was going to try cleartones before the guitar was sent back to Guild.

Good luck and if I find anything else, I will let you know.

Hmmm. I'll try some of the suggestions in that thread and see what happens.

Its not that the Elixirs are terrible, but they are quite expensive... however, they last a very long time before I can hear them starting to break down. My F65ce has had Elixir Nanoweb 80/20 lights on her for a good 2 months and still has the slightest bit of new string snap to it. Thats impressive in my book.

On a related note, I find that my maple guitars sound great with 80/20s and my rosewood dreads like Phosphor Bronzes. The Rosewood Jumbos currently sound a bit better with 80/20s as well. I've got lights on all of the Jumbos now, but I'm looking to switch to mediums soon. The JF-100C especially seems like it needs some serious energy before the top really starts to sing.

I also use 12's on my GAD 30PCE and they sound great. I usually by them in five or ten set groups and they seem to last a long time with great sound. www.immovablerock.com
