It's raining hard and the wind is howling here today so I'm indoors to play for a while and try out a new camera.

Thought I'd use one of the skylights to illuminate a right-side-up TRC. It's an opportunity to enlighten. :D

Testing, testing,

The new camera captures the vivid details clear as can be.

Thanks for promoting proper TRC orientation. It takes conscientious & assiduous members like you to help rid the community of contrary & converse TRC offenders.

Question: What is the proper TRC orientation of Gruhn era "snakehead" headstocks? Same as above or should they be inverted as the headstock is narrower at the top (the philosophy is that the TRC reflects the headstock shape, right)?

You are right but being in Australia the proper orientation would be as shown in Joe's photograph.. Steffan

You got shiny nuts...

wha?

Those are some shiny nuts. What do you rub on them? Do you rub them yourself by hand or do you pay a pro to buff them for you?

I would say: Always like in the left picture, never like in the right picture (it hurts to see it pressed and bended against the nut!).

OK, thanks Ralf & I'll never ask this question again! :)
That's OK, someone else will, and we'll have another opportunity to get all goofy and silly....again, and talk about things like shiny nuts and the proper orientation of TRCs in the Southern Hemisphere!

Veers are us, indeed! :)

Joe, what kind of camera are you using? Nice detail on the TRC!

Thanks, Charlie.
I used my Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2. It's the same one I use when shooting birds through my spotting scope. I've found it to be easy to use and extremely versatile in any number of situations....like rainy day, indoor projects, for instance.

*The key element to this camera, I have to say, is the Leica lens!

Cheers,
Joe
