These are hard to come by, but they built a few in Washington State back in the 1940s. As luck would have it, I found one at a thrift store in Tri Cities. The guy only wanted $35 for it, so I bought it, took it home and put in the corner of the studio.

In essence, the Little Boy design consisted of a gun that fired one mass of uranium 235 at another mass of uranium 235, thus creating a super-critical mass. A crucial requirement was that the pieces be brought together in a time shorter than the time between spontaneous fissions. Once the two pieces of uranium are brought together, the initiator introduces a burst of neutrons and the chain reaction begins, continuing until the energy released becomes so great that the bomb simply blows itself apart.

Similar West, his was smaller. Nothing like a good single action. I'm old fashioned I like Colts. Two favorites, both 3rd gen. A .45 with a 4 3/4 bbl and a 5 1/2 in. .44 spl. I was a big fan of that other Texan, Skeeter Skelton. If I was going to buy a Ruger I'd have to hunt down a short barreled .41 mag. Now that's a handy outdoorsman's pistol.
I guess we could navigate a little closer to the original topic or not. Seems to me we were still discussin' ways of dealing with the sort of folks who would steal your Guild and how to keep them secure :wink:

Steffan, I've never watched Johnny Carson ..... I think his show has been shown on NZ TV, and maybe is currently.
