Does anyone remember this Friday night ABC lineup, Fall of 1972? I was 10 years old and we watched it together as a family. I really miss early TV. I don’t watch much TV these days.

I remember when channels had a lineup and they hoped you stuck with them. I was 9 in 1972. I didn’t get to control the TV. I think 9 was bedtime, so Love American Style was after hours.

What dreck!
I was 24 and my two younger sisters were 19 and 14, when these programs were being televised, and we watched none of them, not because they were too "mature" or risque, but just because they were so mindless and inane.

My parents certainly thought it was too mature for my ten year old self in 1972.

I just turned 18 so being home on a Friday evening/night was a faux pas. Early we would meet up at the local hangout and then a night of "partying" and "getting lucky" ensued. The local club called "The Bear Mountain Inn" was where we headed later in the evening as they had bands and plenty of girls. For some reason they never carded us. Life in our little town was much like the movie "Dazed and Confused"!
However the big TV Show to come home to was Don Kirshner's"In Concert". I think it came on around 11pm and then on Fri or Sat you had the late night "Playboy after Dark" show which always had a band. I remember seeing Grand Funk Railroad playing that show. And then TV went off the air and the logo appeared. This may have been at 1 am.

"The Odd Couple" certainly wasn't. I agree about some of the others though.

LOL! Fortunately it wasn't raining.
I had two friends with MGB's and they always parked them on a hill so that they could coast them and "pop the clutch" to get them running. Seemed they had most trouble on rainy days!

I've hung on to my little 2002 Audi TT Quattro Roadster just to relive those driving moments. The wife isn't crazy about the 2005 coupe I keep in the garage for parts!

And the MGB actually appears to be running!

Reality TV today is even more inane and mindless I think. I'm proud to say that I've never watched any of it, except a few episodes of "The Osbornes". And that's only because Ozzy was so (unintentionally) funny.
We should start a Lord Lucas thread... 🤪
Ah yes. Lucas, the inventor of darkness!

Looking back, Friday nights were never tv’s strongest nights, and I’ll agree w/ a previous comment that the Odd Couple was the only really decent show from the OP’s lineup.

As for Friday night TV from back in the days of less than 20 channels and constant antenna adjusting, I’ll have to go w/ the mid 70’s Sanford and Son, Chico and the Man, Rockford Files. 👍🏻😎 (Policewoman was the closer in this lineup but IMO not even worth mentioning. The other 3 were strong enough to carry the night and all three were as good as the Odd Couple, and certainly better than all the others from that other lineup. (imo of course)

My memory is clearly biased towards what was a much "simpler" time for me as a kid. I love lots of those '70's shows. Perhaps my favorites were the rotating NBC Wednesday Mystery Movie series of Columbo, McMillan and Wife, McCloud, and Banacek. I will still watch and enjoy Columbo if it comes on a "classic TV" station.
