Re: Spandex Pants, STAT!!! Now with Explaination!

This might complete the Burl Ives look really well (this is the pink to purple version, if the colors don't come out properly):

I used to deliver that store when I was a sub at Tacony Station. Some quality, but a buncha crap for the most part. It's long gone...

Re: Spandex Pants, STAT!!! Now with Explaination!

I was referring to the store on Torresdale Avenue mentioned in the article at the Ibanez link, not the online store hosting the article. As I said, this was a personal memory, but as I was looking for an electric at the time, I noticed that, while he had some stock, most of it wasn't worth his price. I seem to remember a lot of forgettable transistor amps, too.

Showed up today! some dings, aftermarket EMGs, aftermarket knobs. Shipped in a decent Alvarez case. Just got in from work and will mess with it after supper when I have the soldering iron out.

It's looking like a bargain. :D

Haven't played with it much. Had to run some errands after dinner and then spent an hour on the phone helping a friend with her schoolwork.
The frets are enormous, compared to my other guitars, but I should be able to bend the pee out of it. Do you have any clue as to the original pups on this thing? Heck, I can't figure out how to adjust the intonation on a Kahler.

And it's not the original whammy either. What was stock on these beasts?

I found the Kahler site a little bit after that post. It seems to be a different model that was used on Guild solidbodies.

Doing some electronics work today and soldered up the loosely connected wires according to the instructions on the web. No sound at all, not even the usual hum. More pressing items on the menu, so this on goes on the back burner for a little bit. :?

I soldered the connection that was held together with tape and plugged a new battery in but no joy. I think that the previous owner messed up the installation of the pups.

I take it the seller forgot to mention that useful little tid-bit? "... some assembly required..."

For a hundred bucks, I'm not complaining! :D The frets are like new, it's got a nice neck and it's nothing I can't take care of, one way or another. I love to know what was in it to begin with though.
