Hendrix
Large quantities of various chemicals being consumed ( not by me, of course, ahem )

Small, intimate venue:
Doc and Merle Watson with T. Michael Coleman at the Lincoln Theater in Mt. Vernon, WA....the year before Merle was killed in a tragic accident. :(

Joe

I'm right there with you on those guys Joe. Very fortunate for me, they came up to Duluth twice in the late seventies.

November of 1977... Norman, Oklahoma. It was The Eagles, Hotel California Tour, with new member Joe Walsh. Awesome.

Same tour, only in Indianapolis. I learned that night that Thai Stick wasn't a martial arts weapon.

I forgot Steve Earle at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago in 2010. Wife and I sat at a table about 7' away from the mic stand. Politics aside, show was breathtaking.

i would have to say, Bob Marley, Boston, September 16, 1980, 8 mos. before he died.

the sound was great, he and the band played beautifully, it was mellow and groovy, man

Probably nothing you geezers would know (except maybe Steve Miller, but the show wasn't a standout).

When I think "favorite" the first one that always pops into my mind is the Nation of Ulysses (DC band on Dischord Records) show circa '91 in Athens, OH. They played in a little room at the student center to a small crowd and it was intense. I was 16 or 17 at the time.

Besides that...

The reunited Sex Pistols outside at Nautica Stage in Cleveland, OH (summer 1996). Never cared much for Sid Vicious but the music had grabbed me when I was 14-ish and seeing them reunited was great (the only reunion that would have been better - the Clash. But it never happened).

I hate to say it, but high on my list is the Warped Tour 2004. It ranks high though because I got to see some of my all-time favorite bands that I had somehow managed to miss for years and years, and I saw them all in the same day: The Vandals, Bad Religion, and NOFX. Also got to see Flogging Molly (who I didn't know much about at the time and they were really good).

Every Clutch show since sometime around '93.

Stiff Little Fingers a couple years ago in DC. Drove all the way up there just to see them. (And if you look around LTG you'll find posts by the wife (Carol) of one of the original members (Henry Cluney).

The reunited original Dinosaur Jr. lineup.

Reunited Kyuss (lives!)

Shellac.

Ha, I also forgot Jim Stafford at Purdue in 74. Little tiny room, and we all had a flask and sat on the floor. Sang "(I Don't Like) Spiders and Snake at the top of our lungs.

Ah SPAC. I saw the NYC Ballet, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Jefferson Airplane, Allman Brothers, B. B. King, Climax Blues Band and a couple others there. Even performed there (as a chorus member singing with the Phillies).

Probably Bobby Horton. At the time I knew most of his repertoire. Concert was on board the (now scrapped) steamboat Mississippi Queen (which AFAIK was not named after Mountain's Mississippi Queen). In addition to the main show for all the passengers, there was a private show of about 45 minutes for about 15 people that included his pre-war Martin. That would be pre-Americian Civil War Martin, as in circa 1857.

Never cared for Steve's politics, but I don't find it difficult to remove politics from an appreciation of good music. Steve is an incredible singer/songwriter. Awesome talent...

Hard to pick one, if I had to it would be the first one in the list below:

Wilco in 2007
REM In 1989
Mano Negra at the Marquee Club in London in 1990
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds any number of times
Painters & Dockers a number of times
Happy Hate Me Nots at the Harold Park Hotel in the mid 80s.
Echo & the Bunnymen about 10 years ago (next time around they were pretty poor)
The Damned in 1986 (even without Captain Sensible)

Lots more that my brain is too addled to recall...

A most recent 'concert' (gathering) I attended was at Gruene Hall with Shake Russell. I find my 'concert' attendance migrates fowards smaller, less frantic, more intimate venues. This was a Sunday late afternoon concert. :) Because Gruene Hall on weekend nights is quite something else...hundreds and hundreds of folks. 8)
