and in with the new.

I'm very reluctantly selling my '98 Birdie here in NZ this week.

Don't want to, but I now ( almost ) have this shiny new bauble ..............

The auction has had so far, in 24 hours, 120 hits. And, so far, no idiot questions.

Selling prized guitars is such a trauma !! :( :(

Man, I don't know. Those are both stunning. I don't think I could part with the first one myself, even if it was to get the second one. The first one's got a more understated look but it's still really, really cool.

Just overprice it so it won't sell, and we can all rag on you here.

Seriously though, good luck with the sale.

Wow! The top on that new one is the most awesome I've ever seen. If it sounds half as good as it looks, you are going to rock.

Coastie,

I thought the '98 had a great top, and then I saw the other one and all I can say is...

I may be in the minority, but I always preferred flame to quilt. So stripey... That aside, there's no denying what a crazyass piece of wood found its way onto the new one. It's almost obscene in a way...

I've always thought Guild had one heck of a maple supplier for these 'birds.

Agreed kakerlak, When I got my quilted Bird, it was the most stunning piece of maple I had ever seen. The sunburst added to it on Coastie's axe, makes it almost obscene as you said....

BTW......

Hello, newbie here. My, those are two of the most beautiful Bluesbirds I've ever seen! I bought mine about 6 years ago, made @ Fender. It too, has a really nice quilt top, and is one of the best sounding, playing and looking guitars I've ever played. Yours are just stunning. I assume you sold it? Thanks for the pics!

Welcome Campie! Gotta love the Bluesbird, I agree.
I had Coastie's B-bird (the new one pictured above) in my house for 24 hours or so, and I can confirm that your use of the word "stunning" is absolutely appropriate!... It was tough to be a good boy and bring it back to its legit owner......
But if I had kept it longer, my own B-bird would have probably started with the questions "why do you spend so much time with that one?", "what does she have that I don't have" etc etc etc, and I prefer living in peace......

Welcome Campie.

No, my Bluesbird didn't sell so now I have two. Drat !!

When the second 'Birdie reaches me ( it's presently in the custody of Cap'nJuan ) I'm thinking that I'll get a nice studio photo. of the two 'Birdies and my Blues 90.

Now, it's show-us-your-Birdie time !

I promise pics soon...but you can go to youtube and see me playing it. (I'm a jazzer, mostly) Look up Naima or Boowannabe. Please forgive my sloppy playing and appearance...it was a hard day! I'm also a Bluesbird-a-holic, and for the life of me, I don't understand why Guild (Fender) would discontinue one of the best electric guitars ever made. :? Thanks for the welcome, pics coming soon.
