Ok. Here's the update on my son's f312. Hans emailed me to get some info (thanks Hans!). I took it in to the music store where my son takes lessons. It's a mom and pop shop not a chain and they take good care of us. They strummed it a few times and immediately loosened the strings to take the tension off. Pointed out some structural damage to the sound board and previous neck damage that was actually repaired well. A local luthier does work for them and he will look at it soon. They showed me a guitar in the shop he recently repaired - a 1972 Guild D25. Looked great! They said he has done work on guitars in much worse shape. I'll fill you all in on how the repairs go.

Yeah! This one has pride and dignity. He loves his guitars and music. Has bought most with his own money. This will be one to cherish. I'll be looking for a case next. Do you all suggest looking for a vintage Guild case or go with something like a Gator?
