I've played one of those Dreadly. Beautiful guitars.....only one shortfall.......the top doesn't vibrate and they sound pretty muted. It's the maple top.

As West say's, no top vibrations. Not really an "acoustic" guitar at all.

Made to be played plugged in and loud with a band!

Therefore, no reason for anyone here to bid on it.

Hans had one....he'll tell you the same thing. They are incredibly beautiful guitars though.

Beautiful guitar. Flamin' out the yin-yang... Very sweet.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a maple top to be ideal for an acoustic either. Great collectible, though.

Ya'll beat me to it. Yep, that maple top sure is a beauty, but can she sing? I think not . . .

Taylor makes a Dan Crary Sig guitar for the same purpose.
I know a friend that has one and it isn't a very good sounding acoustic, but it shines as an acoustic/electric when pluged in.

Sticker on the one I played in Dallas was $5000, but the guy that worked there though the owner might let her go for around $3500. I loved the looks, but have played $250 guitars that sounded more lively. Plugged in it might be OK.

That was the wildest eBay auction I've ever seen. I happened to start watching the D130 with about 45 minutes left.....minimized it and would go back every now and then and check on it. I have no explanation as to why or how this happened.

Anyway, with a little over 6 minutes left, 35 bids and a top bid of over $2600 , all of the sudden, the listing totally changes. Up pops a "Buy it Now" which hadn't been there, but now there's a BIN of $4000, and all 35 bids are wiped out......the clock never changed....and back with NO RESERVE. Very quickly a guy jumps in at 99 cents, and under the listing, there's no message stating the seller's reserve hadn't been met. This is blowing me away as the clock hadn't changed.....now 5 minutes left. The bidders who were watching are frantically trying to get their bids back in........but just the lowballers for a few minutes. At 40 seconds and at $610, I figured what the heck and plugged in $1500 thinking I could resell it.

Before the listing changed, the seller actually had a high bid placed of over $2600, the guitar was finally settled at $2125 after the snafu. Wow..........the listing posted a message stating that it was an eBay error....not sure if that was posted by eBay or the seller. Long story short, the snafu cost the seller at the very least over $500, and someone got a D130 for $2125. The heck of it is that you'll never know where it may have ended up if left alone....could have easily gone over $3000. I'd be very interested to know what happened?

My guess is that the seller saw the bid activity and began to lick his chops at over $2000 and thought he might entice a BIN of $4000, and figured he could change the listing with 5 or 6 minutes left, but when he did, he wiped out ALL existing bids and went right back to zero.......again, the clock never changed and with no reserve. According to his rating and feedback of 5, he had never sold anything, but had been an eBay member since '99. In other words, in a second, he went from over $2600 back to zero with NO RESERVE and less than 5 minutes left. I'd love to know what actually happened? If it was an eBay boo boo or if was the seller screwing up his own listing?

I've saved the listing and if you go to it and look under bid history, next to a record of each of the cancelled bids, it says, "eBay error did not put up my buy it now or my reserve price". Very interesting. If this were an eBay error, would they be liable for the mistake?

Man, that was exciting to watch......bet the seller is pi$$ed either way!

Actually, it sounds like the guy was expecting to get at least $4000 and panic set in with the lower bids and, inexperienced, he tried to make some changes he could not do that late in the auction to avoid having to sell it for the current 'low' bids...there are ways to end an auction but obviously he didn't know how.

More than likely the 'winning' bidder will never get that guitar at that price.

If it really was a fleabay error, most likely it will appear again as a relist.

Well that "winning" bidder would be me!

Since I was using EZ Snipe I didn't watch the auction go off.

When I checked my email I recieved the "You won this item on ebay.." notice.

Then I got an email that said; "there were multiple errors from ebay with my auction listing and I cancelled all bids and ended the auction sorry for any inconvenience"

The next email was; "wb91 has sent you a request to cancel the transaction for Guild DC-130 Very Rare # 8 of 22 ever made (150317695884).

Reason for request: The seller did not provide a specific reason.

Please click the Take action button to accept or decline this request."

Of course I declined the request and stated that the auction was up for numerous days and there was plenty of time to make corrections and to please send me an invoice for $2125!

Haven't heard anything back yet.

Oops, hang on, I just got an email from wb91, I'll be right back!

OK here's the latest; "Hello Kurt on the DC-130 : I had a reserve of 3900 which did not ever come up in the listing, I also had a buy it now (4000) which was not working either, so I contacted ebay via chat multiple times, and asked them how I could stop the auction, or to have reserve price work like it should have worked, they recommended that I cancel all bids which I did, obviously your bid came at the very end, which they told me if that happened that once I explained the problems errors that had occurred in my listing to this person that they would just agree to cancel, this is what I am asking you to do. Thanks, Vince ebay is going to charge me for a final value fee unless you agree to cancel with me, try to look at this from the sellers stand point, two very important things (like my reserve) and buy it now, did not work for me in this listing"

Thanks to West' eyewitness report, I think I have a very good case in this deal and there ain't no way in hell that I'm cancelling!

Before I reply, what does the LTG jury think? (Help!)

Don't back off - the seller's stupidity is not your problem. I had a similar experience with a buyer, "I didn't know what I was doing, etc. etc.". It's people like this that give eBay a bad name!

Good luck!
