I've seen a BUNCH of different pics of the X160s...some have the wooden base, some metal. Hard to tell what's original and what was changed. Maybe Guild issued them at different times with different bases? Funny, but they ALL seem to keep the aluminum saddle regardless of what the base is made out of!

I still think it is not the original bridge.

Yeah, that A string is slotted too close to the D. As a consequence, I think the whole thing is a little narrow, E-to-E (low E lines up well along the fretboard, but look how far inboard the high E lies). Kicking the A and E out a little would fix it, but those are the widest, deepest slots, so it might not be possible. No room to skew the slots the other direction... Also looks to me like the D and G are father apart than any other pair, though only slightly.

E and A look fine to me. The D is just a tad too close to the A and too far away from the G. Then the whole thing needs to shift to the right.
I'm just going to try to find a new saddle.

Something that hadn't clicked earlier was your comment about switching to heavy flatwounds. If you're running a wound G, you'd want a new saddle, even if this one wasn't mis-slotted.

Man, I am jealous! I've wanted one of these since I played one at NAMM around 2002.

I'd wait 'til you've got the guitar in your hands before deciding on anything. Photo angles and perspective distortion can deceive. Anyway I always align strings with the fretboard rather than the pickup(s).

IMO DeArmond 2000s sound terrific with flatwounds. And the thinness you can get from roundwounds used with an aluminum Bigsby bridge is counterbalanced by the darker, warmer strings. My old Gretsch has exactly this feature set.

Personally I really like the Bigsby bridges, but i like a lot of high end resonance. You can pick up a new one for about $15 and they are easy to slot as aluminium is quite soft. Get a set of nozzle cleaning files for a few dollars.

Sad.
Waited all week. All week UPS status says it will be delivered by end of day Friday Dec 23. Stayed home ALL DAY!

Never came.

Now the UPS tracking says
"Scheduled Delivery:
Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later"

.. WTF!

Unfortunately that Happens down here all the time with UPS. Unless it reads "Out on truck for Delivery" in the online tracking info the morning it is supposed to be delivered it never comes that day. I too have wasted many a days waiting for the UPS truck only to have it not arrive. Hopefully they will get it worked out.

Ah, that sucks! Probably caused by the Xmas deluge of deliveries?

Called UPS.

They have NO IDEA where it is. They are opening an investigation.

They show the item being dropped off at UPS Jacksonville FL on Dec 17 (origin scan).
Then they show it leaving UPS Jacksonville FL on Dec 20 (departure scan).
For some unknown reason it just sat there for 3 days.

Then after that...nothing. No scans.

Grrrrrr.....

I've had stuff get lost in the UPS maze. Nothing has ever disappeared for good, though. One package got sent back & forth 3–4 times from Nashville to Perrysburg (Ohio) over a week or so before making it into Michigan. None of this was recorded in the shipping history 'til after I received the package.
