Finally it has arrived at my house! First Guild

Mint condition (literally), didn't expect it to be this good
Seems to be 100% original, the only little thing is a tiny tarnish spot on the gold pickups, for the rest its perfect!
Sounds great

Got it thanks to a very helpful patient LTG member who was willing to sell it to me! Thanks!

Now that's a first Guild! Congrats Jeff. Well done!

Judging from this picture, I have a feeling this might be the first of many Guilds. Hanging around here will do that to a person.

You know, i won't lie.

I'm looking for a Starfire with mini hb1s already and in the future i'm already thinking about finding a solidbody aswell, perhaps a bluesbird

Jeff!

You'd done good, brother! She's a beauty and a keepper! You can't go wrong with HB1s.

Just keep on hanging out here and that 60s Starfire will show up sooner or later.

Tristan :D

PS - Your pic would make a good avitar. 8)

Congratulations, she looks great. What year is it? Original HB-1s?

An X-170/170T is definitely on my "to consider" list.

Congratulations. I've had mine since it was new, and it still inspires me.

Nice guitar, Jeff.

But beware... those old mini 'buckers will steal your heart!

So i've heard, looking forward to trying them!

The only thing i will probably want to change though is the rosewood bridge, and i might add an original guild bigsby.

Just kidding  ... Theres alot of X170's with Guildsbys and metal bridges obviously. I've never played one but I'm guessing theres no chance of marring the finish or have to do anything intrusive when its installed, right?

Well i will probably see if i can add a metal bridge that works well on this guitar, i read it will make the guitar a little brighter sounding.
Guildsby, not sure yet, but if i remember correctly the holes are in the same place as the harp tailpiece.

I will only do this obviously if i can do it without modifying the guitar physically.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the X-170 was intended as a jazz guitar right? I play blues, rock n roll and a little rockabilly so i want it to be louder and brighter
Anyway, the guitar is strung with flatwounds, i think, i never had them before so i'm not sure. But lets assume they are.
It sounds fantastic, but i couldn't bend the G string more than half a step so i changed it to a plain G, it still sounds awesome now, it has an extra ring in the sound now because of the plain G.

I read theres flatwound sets that are easier to bend. But in general some stuff i found about flatwounds is that they last for a long time and are less sensitive to corrosion and rust, i'm not sure if this is true.
