Welcome back! The neck pickup is mounted 180deg around, any specific reason?
Pickups are Fender HB-1, so guitar is a late Westerly made Starfire III.

Almost certainly, someone just added the master volume & tinkered with the pickup. I have a ‘97 Starfire III with a swapped-in Guild harp tailpiece, so people do indeed like to tinker from time to time.

Thanks for returning to share - beautiful guitar!

Not necessarily. Might have been a special order that way.
That certainly may be true Ralf, but the reversed pickup in addition to the extra pot makes me lean towards a tinkerer. On the other hand, how many people would want to mess around with wiring in a master volume on a hollowbody? Okay - toss up!

Good eye! No idea unless the previous owner wanted to take some of the treble off the sound. Who knows?

Does the lable inside the guitar indicate a Special "Sp"?
With the Fender HB1's it would be easy to add "coil tap" functionality. Then flipping the neck pickup would change the tone a bit.
Does the Master Volume or any other cotrol knobs have push/pull POT installed? If you never tried it before see if you can pull the knobs up to "switch" to a coil tap. Start with Master Vol first.

Just maybe you have additional pickup wiring options available that you weren't aware of. (Note: The "Mars Music" special run of Tennessee Orange X170T's with the Fender HB1's came with the wiring functionality implement with a special Switchcraft switch. It could have been implement just as easily with a Push/Pull pots.
Check it out just to be sure.

And....a beauty of a SF3! Congratulations!

Thanks Matsickma. I’ll check but I don’t think so. Nope. No push pull.

I JUST noticed that I changed the pup back at some point but I don’t EVEN remember doing it. That pic was from when I got it. Maybe a tech did it when I took it in for a refresh but I don’t remember that conversation. Anyway, she’s back to normal lol! I MAY turn it around and see if I like it better!
