Gosh that's gorgeous Larry. I too like the contrast of the back strip. You're building something you will always be so proud of.

Starting the top binding.. Curly Maple/Black/white/ Black binding followed by white Teflon/Black/ white/ Black. The Teflon acts as a spacer so I can inlay the abolone afterwards. When its dry the Teflon just lifts right out and leavs the exact width for the abolone...kool!

I'm way too ham fisted to attempt even a kit guitar. That's incredible :)

Thanks Tom,
Its really comeing together these days...so far..I am very happy with this build. The teflon method works out well. It can be hard to get Abolone to stick with other materials.IE: hide glue works fine...yellow and white glue will hold well but, there is a time limit involved. W/ Abolone you must cut and sand to fit each peice...thus making glueing all at once not a favorite option...the "skull" idea came from me playing a popular Bluegrass Festivale a couple of yrs. back and a fairly famouse picker said as I was walking off stage...." whats the matter Boy, cant afford a real guitar? "!!! ...I was playin' my beloved Guild DV-52 at the time!! pissed me off! That was the premise for this build. Dont worry I will see him again this year......

So you're going to cut a hole into the sides to put the control unit in?

The binding-inlay and the rosette look marvelous!

Yes...I will cut a hole in the sides..hard for some to imagine I know :)
It was part of the basic design for this build from the start that I would use some sort of on-board electronics.
I like to have options....plus, I own my guitars..they dont own me! :D
I do understand that many would not want to install electronics in a acoustic. :)
Thanks for the kind words. this build is a lot of fun :)

Atta boy!! You have to admire and respect them but.... I've seen people paralyzed with making a change that would make the guitar easier or better for them to use or enjoy. It's your guitar. And this one is "yours" way more than any you could have purchased.... I'm still in awe of your mad skills!!

Exactly,Tom! There is nothing wrong with having a beautiful guitar and being the " caretaker"
of it till the next respectfull owner. Keeping them as original as possible...thats how great old
guitars are born!!...plus..its keeps up the value! as an individual, I love having the oportunity to
have exactly what I think will work for me at the time...makes the whole " build " thing worthwhile :)
I agree that hanging on to something thats not right for you and not being willing to change it can be a stiffelling
experience. I am so glad we are all so different...keeps it interesting :)
