Hi All,

I finally got the guitar back from my luthier, and suffice it to say it was worth the wait! :D Mike did his usual awesome job, and the binding work looks so good you'd hardly know it ever came off.
In this face shot, you can see that it's absolutely gorgeous, and plays great too. 8)

Next shot is of the very clean sound hole for a '75, unfortunately much cleaner than my '75 D-50

Next up is the top side of the neck. This is the side that had the big hunk of binding missing. It's a little out of focus, but trust me it looks great!

Here's the bottom end of the neck with all the binding intact.

Here's the top side of the guitar. The finish here is flawless, and it buffed out beautifully.

Same for the bottom side

And the back. Not a flaw to be found. :)

The only mark that I could find on the guitar is a small nick a few inches below the middle of the bridge. If you look real close you can see it. The action is nice and low, and it plays great and sounds massive. For the bit over $1200 that I have into it, I couldn't be more pleased.

They have one in a local pawn shop they are asking $1700 for and it is beat to death and back. You got a deal on that fiddle!

Thanks Cap'n! And yes, that is what's left of our snow here on Long Island. It was the first nice day in a loooong time today, so I brought the fishbox with strings outside to get some better light.

I'm still bowled over by the sheer beauty and excellence of this guitar. I'm in hog heaven right now! :D

Wonderful! Looks (better than) brand new!!!

Those tuners look brand new!

Thanks. Judging by your sig that's not faint praise. That's quite a collection you have! The other good news is that while the neck was warped, the truss rod cover had never been removed and the neck straightened up easily. There's plenty left of the saddle too.

It's a keeper :D

The folks around here are wonderful, Sandy. Almost everyone I've met here wants their instruments to go to a good, appreciative home when they part with them... Four of my five Guilds (including both of my F-50Rs) came to me this way. I've tried to live up to those expectations.

I guess I see it this way... We are caretakers of these fine instruments and with a little bit of responsibility and elbow grease there will undoubtedly be caretakers to follow us. I really like the fact that I own a piece of history that will outlast me and will bring as much pleasure to future owners as these guitars have brought to me. That continuity and sense of community with other guitar players and collectors is something special.

So, enjoy, play, and take care of that lovely new addition to your legacy.

Thanks Chaz, that was just beautiful <sniff>

Honestly, I don't plan on ever selling any of my Guilds, or my P-Bass either for that matter. My nephew will inherit all of them when I croak

Nice bunch of folks here, too. I feel right at home! :)
