He shoots, He scores.
Sounds like fate to me,
And a beautiful 'burst for sure.
Welcome to the D25-12 fold, 'twas my first Guild.
She still brings joy with every strum.
Enjoy.

Pardon me Irish, pass me Guiness

Beautiful 12er corgis!
Nothing like the feeling of victory after receiving a guitar bought on Ebay and realizing it meets and surpasses your expectations!
Congrats and enjoy it for many years...

I'm seriously considering sending this guy some more money, crazy as that sounds.

Crazy is not a word I would use.

Generous and kindhearted seem more appropriate... :D

That's the way I'd like to think it.

I just sent the guy a hundred bucks, and it felt good. Thanks folks, for not thinking I'm crazy.

The D25-12 and the JF65-12 are my two favorite Guild 12-strings.

You got an INCREDIBLE price on that!

Congratulations.

I'm bettin' that he'll remember that hundred long after you've forgotten about it, and that it'll be that little extra that he needs, needs....to help out in a serious way...you call it a hundred bucks, bet he calls it a blessing...I've had a couple of those, and maybe passed on a couple too...works....it just works... :) Steffan

I'll bet you're right too, Steffan. His disappointment in our communication at the end of the auction was palpable, and I almost felt guilty. Really. Now I just feel good about the whole thing, and that's easily worth a hundred bucks.

Nicely put, Steffan.

Definite karma points for that Sandy. Congrats on your new 12er!

Nice one !! I got my '83 D212 (same thing as yours basically) off of eBay and never regretted it. It's become associated with me around my town. Definitely a keeper.

Cheers !

Sweet guitar, and what a wonderful gesture!

Sure is, Grot. I feel better now, though.

Hey, if I keep this up, I can open a museum like you! Still have GAS (and some money too). Now I have my eyes on this D-40. I think I have the seller bargained down to $1K, which I think is a fair price if it's as nice as he says. I'm afraid to go look at it because I know I'll end up leaving with it. And I know I can't count on you guys to stop me!

Somethin' about this place just seems to attract people like you. God'll get ya for that!
Oh by the way, on that '40, My personal opinion is that if it's that old and truly hasn't been played that much, that's a prime candidate to check the neck angle. If it was left strung up to tension, (and in most cases I notice people who don't play tend to tune 'em too tight), all those years with no excercise take their toll. Quick eyeball technique (forgive me if you already know this): Lay a straightedge on the fretboard and see if it lines up with the top of the bridge, on both sides and at the center... 'scuse me lemme get out of your way now...

My thoughts exactly. This guitar is just a bit newer than my D-50, which of course is on its way to Nashville right now for a neck reset. The guy that's selling the '40 is right near my luthier, so it's a no-brainer to have him vet it out for me if need be. I've actually gotten pretty good at it just by looking at the saddle and the action at the 12th fret. The guy that owns this guitar is a bit of an oddball. He has the '40 and a Les Paul, and yet claims that he "doesn't play". WTF?? I don't think the guitar has ever been touched, much less had a setup or anything. I may up ending up going for a blonde Guild anyway, as I don't have one of them. Yet. :D

A bit of perspective from a relative newcomer. I started lurking here and eventually joined because i kept reading on other groups what a wonderful bunch the folks at LTG were. Well, twocorgis has just demonstrated the truth in that. A really nice thing to do. I can think of other forums that would rake a member over the coals for this sort of act of kindness -- calling it foolishness or worse. It's a tribute to the group as a whole that people are giving a pat on the back for this generosity.

Sorry for getting a bit sappy. But this is a good place.
