Now, if you wear purple spandex (must be spandex) pants at LMG III,
That might be worth a cross-country drive!
Joe

Sorry folks, Sandy already made plans, and I'm not about to ruin a friend's wardrobe parade:

Nice pants BTW, Pascal!

Thanks Sandy, I'll see if I can bring you a pair for the LMGIII jam. 8)
Dang, it just keeps getting more and more exciting, don't it? Wardrobe parade of purple spandex pants. Yippee!

Sandy, don't forget to bring your white, three-inch stacked heel, pointed-toe boots. 8)

Wasn't the "bird" in Sandy's post once native to Las Vegas?

Two things come to mind...I thought the French were much more refined, you know glass of wine, stick of bread, accordian music... :D I do like the Jorma Kaukonen look though Pascal...but Sandy as Fey Waybill? I just don't know.

Well..... in front of the public pressure and the herd of groupies now camping in my front yard,
I finally found out how to extract these VCD files, and I will now submit (in addition to the purple pants) my 4 years old guitar playing (I was 17), to your sarcasm, and/or enjoyment.
Yes learnin': I got guts.

I just received another flashback surprise this morning, so I decided I'd unearth this thread for a little update, and I went "WHAAAAAT!!!!!????!!!!!!" 2055 views on this thread????? Who is looking at this? I want names!!!

Anyhoo, one of my bros went to see a local band in my hometown of Le Mans a few weeks back, and had told me about it via skype, as he got to talk to the guitarist, and went on to tell him he had a brother whom once played lead in a local band called BB Requin. Julien, the guitarist in question (with whom I now have regular exchanges via youtube/e-mail and just thanked for this precious gift he just gave me) dug up a radio interview clip from July 1981 of the singer/writer Philippe, with two of our songs played on the air back then. He got this audio clip by a lighting tech of another local band of the era (Opal) that I knew very well, having been at the high school with two of its members, and shared the stage with, at several occasions in local events.
Here's the clip Julien posted on his youtube channel, needless to say I still have an ear to ear smile after listening to this until now completely forgotten piece of my musical history! :D

For those of you not fortunate enough to understand French and whom would like to skip the talking  the tunes are at approximately 3:00 and 10:20... sad news is you don't get to see the purple pants or the flying V this time!

Digging up an old "memory lane" thread to go even further back in time (I guess the older you get the further back in time you can go right? :grumpy:) .... My older Bro Jean Marie (the lute player for those of you familiar) sent me this card for new year:

b7f6t5.jpg

It's a 40 years old photo of him (left) playing the guitar alongside yours truly (right) playing the first instrument I learned, the violin.
We were either sounding good or threw a brick in there, as mom stopped on her way to meet dad (on the bench at the end of the garden), to look at us with a certain degree of interest...
Needless to say I saved this one on my hard drive. :smile-new:

Great photo! Looks like a young Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt...

Thanks Tom and Terry, and you're right Terry, haven't changed that much in 40 years... just went through a purple pants phase.
