Sorry, are they the 3/8th or 1/2 inch tuners? I am assuming the 3/8th inch?

Thanks!

If the tuners are the same as what's on a Starfire, I would say 3/8". The Casady bass has 1/2", and they're quite a bit bigger tin diameter han the ones on the Starfire.

I'm sorry. What are we measuring - the diameter of the hole for the "shaft" that holds the string? (Just looking for better language to characterize the differences between my '67 and the NS).

That's what I am guessing, but not with 100% conviction.

Yes, that would be the diameter of the post that the string threads through, or more accurately, the size of the locking nut on top.

This one just surfaced on eBay ... I wonder what happened to the back of the headstock, though?

$(KGrHqNHJFQFH+s2IPcNBSBr(Vbqzw~~60_57.JPG

does anyone susprect there could be any type of crack in the headstock based on this picture? maybe someone tried to get at it and glue it? or if there is a crack along the grain or match point, maybe that itself caused the flaking of the finish? It looks solid to me what do you all think? is there a chance it is "cracked but not broken" kind of like the hairline cracks that suddenly appear on the body of an acoustic guitar?
