I'll bet with a little love this will turn out to be a real work horse. congrats and keep us posted (I use a medium phosphor bromze string on my d4 and they bring out a great thick dread sound)

Cool, CWG! Nice price. And the serious number puts it in '75 or '76, not '77. Headstock crack doesn't look that bad either. Bet it sounds sweet. I'll vouch for the phosphor bronze mediums, too.

Thanks guys...I messaged the seller and requested they
make sure the strings are loosened or completely removed
before shipping. It is so great to slap a new set on an old
guitar and find out how she feels and sounds...now I'm
just waiting for the shipping confirmation to finalize the
transaction and then...toss and turn until she arrives!
Oh boy...finally the old D25 I've wanted! Ever since I heard
Ryan Adams (NOT Bryan Adams!) playing his '74 25 I with
that tone I have wanted one! PB Mediums, huh?
I'll give 'em a go...! Oh boy oh boy! What I REALLY hope
is that it looks real ugly and sounds real, real sweet!
Some old D25 Mojo!

It's a great price & a great year. It was a no-brainer.
Even if you need a neck reset, it's still a bargain at that price.

Congratulations.

Gotta agree with Marcellis... even if you had to have some work done, it will be worth it.

Congratulations!

Great get. As I'm sure you know if she needs some work there are great luthiers (and four or five authorized Guild folks who really know their way around Guilds) in the Chicago area. My fingers go with lights but always PB.

Just ask our own Don: he's got a "well used" D-25, and boy does it sound sweet :D

By the way, mine developed that same small crack in the top, at the top of the pickguard after 25 years or so of heavy playing - I brought it to a luthier and he put a small brace underneath and glued the crack together for me, stopped it in its tracks.

Dred the only crack that appears to be the cause of any concern is the one that seems to indicate a headstock repair. I'm just praying that it's cosmetically challenged but solid nonetheless...as for the other multitude scratches, dings, etc...I'm almost happy they're there! After hearing so many loyal testaments to the sound of these old Westerly D25s from so many esteemed LTGers I've been on the lookout ever since joining the forum when I stole my DV4 a couple of years ago. Thus began the Guild GAS! BTW I finalized the transaction earlier this evening. So now I wait for the Big Brown Truck to roll up in front! I'll have a set of PB Mediums another of Lights waiting. Damn, an evening of fussing with a new guitar has got to be one life's sweetest little pleasures!

Aww, you couldn't stop me, Scratch! Think I'll have to send you all a cover of Ryan Adam's Factory Girl...pretty sure he recorded that one with his old 25.
