I pulled the trigger on a 1971 D-55 that was on eBay recently.

From the pictures and the sellers description, it really seemed to be in great shape, so I'm looking forward to getting it tomorrow!

I'll post pics and more as soon as I've got it in my hands.

PS- I also bought an S4CE (Songbird) as well. GAS is hard to cope with!

I know my F-50R from that year is exceptional! Good luck, jazzy!

Thanks! This is the oldest D-55 I've ever seen, actually, so I was kinda drooling once I saw it! 8)

I saw one go for a pretty steep price. Is that the one? If so, it did look sweet. (On my phone and not patient enough to take the time to log into Ebay.)

Congrats, Jazzmang! You would have had bidding competition from this quarter if I had the scratch. Looking forward to your review. Glad it went to LTG.

I think thats the one! It wasn't cheap, but its not often you see this old of a D-55 in such good condition.

You go Jazzman!
The model is mouth watering enough, but the year makes it even more "jealousy inducing"!!!!
Congrats and keep us updated on it!

haha I guess not. Sometimes you just have to jump at the opportunity to own a rare one.

Was it this one Jazzy? That one is SWEET and reminds me lot of my '73 D50, though it's in better overall condition than mine (though mine's hardly a beater). That's some break angle on the saddle too; has it ever had a neck reset?

Thats the one!

Doesn't look like it was reset. Owner said it was all stock except for ABS plastic trapezoid piece by the endpin. I'll be able to tell for sure. I've got a 3 day return policy on it, so I'll check it out really thoroughly.

Nice catch, Jazz... That was a pretty one, for sure! I think the only "earlier" one I have seen sell on eBay wasn't even a 55... it was a late 60s D-50 SB special, with the block inlays of the D-55. Sold for a pretty penny, as I recall. But that was early in my Guild watching, so I may be remembering it all wrong. Hope she's all you hope for... we're expecting a full report! Dave

Good luck with it Jazzy. Return policies are good I think, thought there are some here that wouldn't agree. I just bought this one for a number of reasons. If it's a dud I'll send it back, but somehow I don't think so,

Beautiful Jazzy! That looks like EIR on the back and sides, right. I know there's some '71s with Braz IIRC, but that was pretty late in the game for Guild.
