Color and light....another day on the creek

Some of the fishermen get pretty brutal.

Just wondering over morning coffee,

Good morning Joe, interesting shot  Yes it is a blood sport for the fish, but it is food for us. Hopefully they don't die in vain though. No worse than what bears and fowl do to them. It's the circle of life thing

Yes "food " for thought . It's odd how distanced we are from where we get our food from. I have 2 young kids and they have NO idea where our living food comes from. I of course have educated them and to their horror they realized that animals were sacrificed on their behalf. My daughter tried to become a vegetarian for about 2 weeks, but the inner carnivore won out in the end. We don't waste food though, as we believe that would not honor the animal. Might sound weird but for us it puts it in a different perspective and keeps the gluttony down.

I suppose most often fishing is a blood sport. Last week I fished a wild trout preserve: zero limit, catch and release only, no bait. Only barbless flies allowed. Just as fun for me as keeping the fish.

 Ah, but when we eat a plant, haven't we killed? Anything else we can eat, I mean other than plants and animals? Seems like Jesus Christ fed the folks fish. When I was in Asia, it's all they ate.....well, fish and chicken (had to kill them too), but I'll bet Budda ate fish. Bubba eats fish too......loves it fried.

FYI, this wasn't meant to be an anti-fish/fishing post. I just wanted to show some color from the annual fishing frenzy down on the creek. It's often chaotic and there's very little respect shown for the fish. :x

I eat a lot of fish and I love just about anything that swims into my kitchen; I've just never taken a bludgeon to one. Never saw the need to insult/assault the fish. :D

There....now let's go fishing,

Ever try to remove a treble hook from a lively 30 lb King in the back of a boat in 3-5 ft seas? I always kept a small club handy......one less thing to worry about.

Yes I have and I use a club as well. The fish suffer less if you dispatch them right away.
It's the over-the-top techniques I've been seeing down on our creek that prompted the post.
